Just about....
I did flash to the M bios, first thing I did when things weren't happy. I played w/ it some more lastnight and was able to get WinXP to format the partition, but got BSD'd. I'll adjust the voltages some more and see how it goes when I get home. Thanks for the help all.
Well just got a new Shuttle SN95G5 and it is giving me some fits. First here's the system configuration:
AMD64 3200+
Dual DDR 2x512 Corsair PC3200XLPT
XFX 6600GT 128mb
NEC ND-3500A
Now the trouble comes when trying to format the hard disks with a new WinXP pro install. I've tried BOTH...
The UPC code is on the box packaging, and it definitely points to the 160GB drive. You really have to check and make sure, but DANG, 200gb for $100 is great
Just got back from the local B&M Best Buy and they have a sale going on till the end of the month on the 160GB Special Edition (8mb buffer) Western Digital Harddrives. Normally $199.99, but now w/ a $70 and a $30 MIR. Now of the 10 drives I looked at ALL of them were 200GB!!! That's around $.50...
Anyone know if anything like this is available or am I just wishing. I got a free 21" HP workstation monitor with 3 BNC RGB connectors. Wondering if I can run this as a second monitor on my GF4 Ti4200,
Is it possible? Can it be done? What do I need to make it work?
Any help at all is appreciated
Pratik,
Did you smell anything to suspect the CPU burnt up? I personally don't think that's the prob, and I know that Sparkle 300w ps is pretty good. My guess is it may be mobo related. If you remove the CPU and reapply Arctic Silver and the heatsink and still no go, try reseating the RAM...
That Sedra-Smith book was used in my introductory Electronics class. I agree it is a good book, but is more Electrical Engineering than not. I did learn a lot from that book. MicroE is a lot of semiconductor device physics and device processing. So you not only know how to build a transistor...
Basically it's all about IC manufacturing, technology and applications. Everything from simple devices to MEMS and GaAs devices. We actually have our own fab where we build our own devices. I find it to be extremely fascinating, but not too many people know about it.
Well the extreme overclock is all for nothing :(
I was not even able to get thru the first test on 3DMark2001 SE, but at a setting of 285/595 I was able to run and got a score in the high 8700's ( I dont remember the actual, I was a little upset I couldnt run at the highest setting).
Well I'm...
I am using the coolbits hack and I have an insane overclock! It just doesnt' seem realistic. Is there any way to see if the card is really running at those clock frequencies?
Well guys, I feel as if I have a ghost in my machine or something. Let me describe the problem:
-Normally (i.e. 19 times out of 20) the computer starts up just fine pressing the power button from being off all night.
-Every once in a while, after pressing the power button, the LED's flash...
I have a relatively new gaming rig put together, and I feel I'm not getting the appropriate 3dmark2001 score. I thought with my hardware I would have gotten a much higher score than 7230!?!
Full details of the rig are in my sig, but for quick reference:
Abit kr7a-raid
Athlon xp1800+
512mb...
I ran the performance tune up wizard in Sandra and it says this:
"Bridgcom Inc. Linksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet adapter: PCI Latency too high. Device could hog the bus for too long."
Is this something I should worry about, and if so how can I go about fixing the problem.
On a side note...
Thank you guys so much. I kept hearing about the security tab and totally forgot about the simple file sharing checkbox. Ugh, I'm still new to 2k/xp so it's gonna take me a while to figure out all the differences.
Much appreciated guys
If I check the properties of the folder all I have is General, Sharing and Customize. I can't find a Security tab, or an Owners field. Thanks for taking a look though.
I moved the My Documents folder to a seperate partition on my hard drive. I also hid it from other users. I had to reinstall WinXP, and now after loading everything back up I can't get to the folder. Can anyone help me change the permissions etc? I can't do it in my user account or with the...
Man is this just weird or what!!
I copied the whole cd to another HD, and low and behold it worked fine. But the cd is absolutely perfect, not a smudge, scratch or anything. Damn I just don't get it.
Funny thing is, I had it working just fine in this configuration. I messed windows up, so I reformatted and reinstalled, and now I'm f*cked. Gah this is frustrating, guess I shouldn't have trusted creative again.:(
After a clean install of Windows XP, I install the latest 4in1's and the Detonator 23.11's then I try and install the drivers for the Audigy from the cd (Creative doesn't have full up to date drivers for d/l, have to update the drivers installed from cd) and every time I install, it freezes...
I seem to be having the same problem as you. Take a look at my rig in the sig. I've been trying for days to reproduce the results that they got over at HardOCP. No luck.
Well, I got my new rig up and running, and I am amazed at the difference in speed compared to my old K6-2 450. Here's the specs:
Abit KR7A-Raid
AMD AthlonXP 1800+
512meg Crucial PC2100 DDR
Gainward/Cardexpert GF3 Power Pack!!! Golden Sample
Sound Blaster Audigy MP3+
Linksys 10/100 Etherfast
2x...
Don't have the OEM but my Audigy MP3 has this on the sticker:
Trade Name: Creative Labs Model Number SB0090
Tested to comply with FCC standards
For Home or office use
Complies with Canadian ICES-003 Class B
Serial No: TSB0090130136046

I can't boot to windows, cause I can't load the highpoint Raid controller drivers to put windows on my Raid0 array. I have seen the setting you are referring to in the Bios, but whether I am set to Swap Floppy drive enabled or disabled it makes no difference.
