Question Recommendations For Cat6 Cable?

So that his local network isn't limited by the same slow speeds as his ISP? If he wants to do local file transfers, host a local media server, play co-op games on a local server, etc.

I have a steamdeck and have been looking at getting a dock to play on the TV from the couch, which controller do you use and does it lose any functionality game-wise with losing access to the touchscreen?

Password Managers 2023

I'm a computer security researcher and I use 1password and my company uses BitWarden. I previously used PasswordSafe because it is open-source, peer-reviewed and doesn't itself involve any cloud storage, but the ease of use of services like 1password is worth the trade off in my opinion.

You wanna play an epic adventure on Arrakis? Wait a couple years.

I love the Dune series, first real PC game was Dune2 which essentially spawned the entire RTS genre and Westwood Studios. That said, I also don't expect this game to do well, although I'll probably still try it. If it was just multiplayer and focused more on resource / automation like Factorio...

Question Recommendations For Cat6 Cable?

If you are going to the trouble of putting it in the wall, always always plan ahead. Monoprice cables are very reliable and even the cat7 / cat8 are affordable. Even if you don't plan to upgrade your incoming bandwidth, why cripple your internal network speeds.

Also, the heatpipe in many GPUs will not work if it is positioned incorrectly (ie with the IO at the top of the case vs at the bottom when upright), the upright GPU mount that Lian-Li offers supports an upright GPU configuration where the GPU can be positioned in either direction.

Question What happened to QD-OLED?

It was all the rage last year and the tech looks impressive. The QD-OLED Alienware AW3423DWF seems to be the best gaming monitor available, but I don't see it getting much love.

I will always recommend splurging for a high quality case. A well designed case can last through several builds. GN did a great roundup of the best cases from last year, but TLDR; if all you care about is airflow the Fractal Torrent is probably the case for you. If you want a few more features...

Just thought I'd post an update I got directly from Lian-Li here: Also, this is the video from GN that goes into detail about the case. I have two new 7950x / 4090 builds waiting for this case, I considered the NV7... but it doesn't have the Dynamic capability and these PCs will be displayed...

Starfield - The successor to Freelancer?

Has Bethesda ever released a game in "good condition" :p:eek: I really, really want Starfield to be good but I'm guessing it'll be more of an Anthem than a No Mans Sky. At least Naughty Dog is also making a Sci-Fi game, maybe it can be a good replacement!

I'm not sorry, Diablo 4 looks like a hot lazy pile of Diablo3.1

I agree, the OG Diablo was one of my favorite games as a kid, and I got in on the D2 beta and had fun discovering amazing bugs like bone-wall farming... but I just couldn't get into Diablo3 it was just too much of the same with nothing really improved. Aside from some barely noticeably improved...

Ah, sorry I should have mentioned that they were / are going to be the main drive in two new gaming PCs for me and my wife. I could always use them as backups / steam drives but I hadn't planned on even bothering with a separate steam drive. Maybe I'll just use them and wait for PCIE gen5...

Question OLED TV as a monitor?

I would never suggest a TV as a monitor, OLED or not. I have three LG OLED TVs and they are a great value, but even if you can fix the auto-brightness "feature" they still aren't ideal for PC usage; this video illustrates some of the issues: I'm very surprised nobody has mentioned the AORUS FO48U:

I bought two 990 Pros from Amazon back in Jan and have yet to install them... It's past the return window but now I'm wondering if I should just try and sell them at a loss and get the Sabrent drives Puget systems recommends. I suppose if nothing else, I could try and flash the new firmware...

Yes, I'm going for the upright installation. Even if I wasn't I would prefer to have more breathing room to run the cables so that the VHPWR cable isn't stressed. The main reason I like the EVO is because of the fairly novel upright GPU mount, and the new case takes it to the next level.

GN did a video on it, but I have not seen much else on it so I thought I'd start a discussion here. I'm super excited for this case, I love the OG O11D Evo, but it can't really fit a 4090.
