Hey dreamchaser,
Personally I would go with the 9700 pro - especially if you dont plan to buy another card for some time. This way you get DirectX 9 support. (Of course only the newest games coming out will support this, but at least you will be ready for it.)
Also, my answer depends on the...
I am asking because last night I bought the PNY Verto GeForce4 Ti 4600 card. It claims to support res. up to 2048x1536 and it has DVI output so I assumed it would be fine.
It turns out that it will only provide DVI output at up to 1280x1024! This wont work since I am trying to find a card to...
True, the motherboards are more expensive. But you can get the Tyan Tiger S2460 for less than $200.
In fact,
here is the link to it for $161.66, but as you say this thing surely is not feature rich!
Furthermore you need to use registered ECC PC2100 memory, which isnt the cheapest...
But...

Not bad if you want to are thinking about building a dual AMD system.
This means you get 2 x 1.67 = 3.33 GHZ for $292
Compare this to Intel P4 2.8GHZ at about $500...

I think you might actually be better off with PC2100 RAM if your FSB clocks at 266MHZ (I think only the Athlon 2800XP and above start using the 333MHZ FSB.) Im no expert, but I have read that there can be latency advantages to keeping the Memory bus and FSB balanced.
Anybody want to comment on...
Hmm... I dont think this its a matter of allowing myself to "get stepped on."
The way it turned it was that there was some other dude in front of me at customer service. I was waiting in line while he was trying to get the deal. By the time he was done trying the manager had made up his mind...
Just got back from Best Buy...
No dice for me :(
The manager told me that they would "price match" to $80, but thats it. I asked him how that is price matching when CC sells for $60. He told me it just was. That meant that after rebate I pay $40.
I almost bought it but I dont like to rely...
This was the exact reason that I chose grape. But coconut also looked like a reasonable answer.
I also had a problem with this problem:
"33. Which one of the designs is least like the other four? "
I think that the last answer (the scalene triangle) is correct since it is the only shape...
<< I think you missed the point of the show.
It is extremely PC.
They are making fun of Archie. >>
I tend to agree with this point of view. I consider myself idealogically left-wing, and yet I love the show. And yes, I think something like it could happen again, it just a matter of...
Did anybody else watch the new episode of "The Screen Savers" on TechTV today?
I thought it was cool that Patrick mentioned Anandtech, along with Tom's Hardware.

<< Honey Nut Cheerios followed by Raisin Bran. >>
I am with you on this one. This is what I eat the most.
Sugered cereal is fine and all, but you can only eat it just so much.

<< it could also (possibly) mean to switch the Least and Most Significant Bits as well as all between (i.e. reverse the binary number --> bit reversal?). >>
Isnt that what I did? I thought I tried to describe bit reversal as basically writing the thing backwards bit by bit. I am not...
I dont know exactly what is being asked for, but I can make a guess.
First, consider what it means to count by threes in hex:
00
03
06
09
0C
0F
12
15
18
1B
1E
21
.
.
bit reversal is a pretty straightforward idea. It means you flip the binary number around...
so for example:
11100110 -->...
Neither.
If you hang out on Hot Deals you will realize that its sometimes cheaper to buy a new printer when the ink runs out. Sometimes you can even make money on the deal if you are good with the rebates game.

<< all Compaq gave me with my PC was their "Quick Restore" disk >>
This is so typical of Compaq. They suck so hard.
Just borrow office from a friend - its not pirating if you own a liscence to it anyway.

Always take the 1 hour! Even though you may think it will be more painful to wake up after 1 hour, in the end your body needs every scrap of sleep it can get. Trust me!

Example where reflexive property is necessary:
Given: x+5 = 9
Prove: x = 4
------
1) x + 5 = 9 by the given
2) 5 = 5 by the reflexive property
3) x = 4 by subtraction
QED
the point is that when you want to be extremely rigourous about a proof you should be able to show that everything can...
The basic idea is that this is supposed to be a statement that it so obvious that you dont need to prove it - an axiom.
Dont let it bother you that it is obvious. On the other hand, sometimes you can learn a lot when you think deeply about simple things.

<< What I want to know is, what the fsck good is an IMAGINARY NUMBER?
What the hell is this? Math is supposed to based in logic and reasoning. There is nothing logical OR reasonable about an imaginary number! >>
I hate to tell you this, but imaginary numbers are very real. They come up...
The real answer is only visible when you consider the negatives as lying in the complex plane...
When multiplying complex numbers it is necessary to add their angle components.
Since negatives lie at 180 degrees from the positives, they add up to give 360 degrees - or zero and thus positive...
Yeah. I went this summer with my gf. It was the best vacation I ever had.
Beautiful scenery, great weather, plenty to see and do.
But if I go back to Hawaii I will go to Kauaii instead because I think it is more remote and scenic.

You could call it Melted, after that funny AOL ]-[4><0R thread from a couple weeks back :)
Actually maybe Molten would sound better. Like molten dsl or molten cable. Ok, maybe that's stupid.

OMG! With prices like that you could buy like 20 and have a rendering farm for under $8000!
And if you bought in bulk like that you could probably get even cheaper! :Q :D

<< I sure as hell wouldn't be bragging on how long it took me :disgust: >>
i'm not bragging. i'm complaining. had to wait 2-3 hours to see how long it turned out. lol. 2-3 hours is TOO long[/i] >>
I guess somebody doesnt understand what it means to "render" an image.
