WD SATA 10k Raptor on sale @ newegg $140 free shipping

Actually, my mistake, I was referring in particular to the Abit IC7-G which I was about -><- close to buying last night. There are two SATA channels on the ICH5R and another two SATA that are on the PCI bus. But if you've got the *Intel* CSA Gigabit Ethernet, yeah, it should be separate buses. MM

WD SATA 10k Raptor on sale @ newegg $140 free shipping

Depends on what bus the SATA is running on. If you check out the Canterwood boards, the SATA is on the ICH5R which is *not* part of the PCI bus. So yeah, the bandwidth is definitely higher (150 instead of PCI limited 133). Unfortunately, it's also the same reason why the ICH5R only has two...

Anyone try RAID using Laptop HD's?

Well, it'd definitely be more expensive....but I think there was a Dell deal not too long ago for a decent sized 5400rpm drive with a 16M buffer. But would space really be an issue if you're trying to run RAID? MM

    ATI Trade Up Program "Warm"

Actually, it's not even really that hot. You can get a retail 9700pro for as little as $317 (see pricewatch). Even if you pay $20 S&H, that's $337 delivered and no digging for an old card, no rebate, no waiting, no hassle. Stone cold if you ask me. Remember, what you're saving the money off...

FREE Pack of 5 Humalog® Insulin Pens!

Actually, he is quite correct. Humalog is still a prescription item in the united states. If your pharmacy is selling this without a prescription, they can be fined. That being said...most pharmacists are good-natured enough to let it slide if you can prove you're on vacation (or patronize...

Trying to find a MB with 64-PCI and AGP 4x

Hahaha! Yah, completely forgot about that one =8-) But even if I went with a Tiger MP board, I'm still limited to a 1900+ I was hoping for something more like a P4 2.4G or something like that. But I guess that would do and would be cheap. MM

Trying to find a MB with 64-PCI and AGP 4x

ugh, I was really hoping to find a nice single CPU solution..... I want to build a nice gaming rig (not overclocked), but I've got a nifty raid array that needs a 64-bit slot.

Trying to find a MB with 64-PCI and AGP 4x

As title says, I'm trying to find out what motherboards have 64-bit PCI slots and an AGP slot (preferably 4x or faster). PCI-X slots are fine too. Rip off a list at me! MM

4 New 47 gig Seagate Elite UWSCSI Hard Drives $119

The array itself would be the expensive part. Handles are about $30/drive, plus the drives (cheap) and the controller ($100-200). *but* take a look at how much they want for their loaded arrays....you're talking a couple g's. MM

Ergonomic Body Balance Chair On Clearance at OD - $12.99 (Reg. $64.99)

Having owned three of these, I will say this: 1) They aren't terribly durable, because of the particle board, but as long as you don't rest your full weight on the lower platform, it's just fine (I'm 6ft and about 170lbs). 2) They're only designed to put your back into alignment. If it seems...

Hot Deal on Kodak DC4800 Accessories

Haven't gotten mine, so I don't know about the doublecharge for the shipping, but I do remember seeing a blurb that they *would* tack on sales tax, as they have business presence in all 50 states (and NY is definitely one of them as Eastman Kodak practically owns their founding city -- and kudos...

    Compaq Evo W8000 / Xeon 1.7GHz / 18.2GB SCSI / 48x CD-ROM / No Memory / No Video / Dual Windows 2000 $699.99

    I had half a mind to get two of these boxes, and yank a processor so I could have a dual 1.7 and buy the rest of the parts. Here's the breakdown: 2 computers + shipping = $1500 2 Xeon 2.2G + HSF + S&H = $600 4 256M ECC RDRAM + S&H = $550 Total $2650 for two boxes. Sheesh....that doesn't even...

    Compaq Evo W8000 / Xeon 1.7GHz / 18.2GB SCSI / 48x CD-ROM / No Memory / No Video / Dual Windows 2000 $699.99

Umm, perhaps, I forgot to mention, it takes ECC RAM. Memorypro 256M 800Mhz ECC RDRAM is $86/stick and must be installed in pairs. Samsung is $109/stick and Kingston is about $105/stick (been checking all morning *g*) So it is a bit more expensive, but I'm trying to weigh all the options *g* MM

    Compaq Evo W8000 / Xeon 1.7GHz / 18.2GB SCSI / 48x CD-ROM / No Memory / No Video / Dual Windows 2000 $699.99

Actually it's not all that bad.... As for dual 1.7, just find someone else that's getting one....someone will definitely shell out the cash to go to dual 2.2s or faster and will have a spare 1.7. The bad part is getting RDRAM which is still really expensive.

    New Hitachi 73.9GB, U160, 10K RPM, & 16MB Buffer $296.10 + shipping

Barebottoms: Good luck in finding something *cheap* I know Enlight makes a small U160 backplane that takes up 3 x 5 1/4" bays and has 5 spots. It's about $250 (Enlight EN-8720 I think is the model #). Otherwise go to centrix and buy one of the Intel Server cases that have it already built in...

    Intel PRO/1000 T Server Adapters 50% off

Isn't 250MB/sec performance the absolute top speed for gigabit ethernet? 1Gbit divided by 8 bits = 125Mb * 2 (full duplex) = 250Mb I personally can't think of a single PC system that can handle that kind of bandwidth anyways. Even a 64-bit PCI interface (SCSI) card can only handle 266M max...

Trouble w/Non-disk SCSI devices on AMI Enterprise 1200 RAID

Well, I got a 2 channel AMI Enterprise 1200 RAID Controller, and all I've put on it are non-disk devices: Channel 1: 40x, 52x, DVD Channel 2: CD-RW and Tape backup Now here's the funky part...the adapter polls the channels and detects all 5 physical drives just fine when it's initializing. When...

SCSI RAID Controller - AMI Megaraid Enterprise 1200 AKA 428 for $135 w/battery option

Well, for insanity sake, I picked one up anyways. I don't have a bunch of hard drives to run with it, but I wanted it because it's got 3 separate channels. One for my Aynch CD-RW and 5MB/sec Tape backup (which oddly I don't use), one for my regular SCSI CD-ROMs, and one for my Plextor 40x and...
