Dual RV680s score 20K(ie 4 GPUs), not one RV680, which is dual RV670s. So 4xRV670s score 20K. ATI's marketing playing with the numbers.

With a Geforce 8800GT, what CPU is "Fast enough"

wildside50: your dual core Opteron is decent. If you want anything faster for your 8800gt, I recommend the Q6600 overclocked to 3Ghz on Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L motherboard.

8GB Ram stable on latest motherboards?

I like your system specs. Except that Radeon HD2400Pro. You do know that HD2400Pro is the slowest card ATI has got? You can replace it with a 8800GT when they are widely available if you ever want 3D in your box. Having a HD2400Pro for a Q6600 is like building a truck with 12 inch wheels.

A new Intel system for xmas

i also think the P965 is a better deal. Gigabyte DS3 might be a good fit. NVidia 7900GS might be a better price/performance choice. X-FI sucks.. get this one: CMI8788 based X-Meridian from Auzentech or the bluegears equivalent. Realtime DTS encoding!!! yeah baby

4x4 in action...

buy a Mac Pro with 8 cores coming out in a few weeks. It has dual quad core Kentsfields. Did I mention the Mac Pro has 4 16x PCI-E slots? Plus you can get intel core 2 duo(quad) chips from apple a lot cheaper because of distribution deals apple has with intel. And a mac now is a PC

the best thing about the DELL 2005FPW is that it uses a S-IPS panel from LG-Phillips and a Genesis LCD controller. All Apple's Cinema Displays are S-IPS for a reason, and they are usually 400:1 for the contrast ratio ratings. This display advertises 800:1 contrast, just means it's not S-IPS...

Driving FOUR 24" LCDs

man, your friend is hardcore, he's thinking exactly the same what I am thinking right now.:) I think dual 6600GTs on a dual PCI-E mobo like the DFI Ultra-D or SLI board is a good try. Although last time I heard, people were having problems running both DVI ports over 1600x1200 resolution...

help with 802.11g speed issue

Hey, i just upgraded wireless B to G. and the speed improvement is minimal. I used to get about 300-500KB/sec on B (which is 11mbit) And after the upgrade I get between 500KB-1MB/sec... I was hoping for a bigger improvement than that...can anyone tell me why the speed sucks???? even at 50%...
