I should add that the lockup I am experiencing includedes these observations:
Monitor blank and power led blinking (computer not powered on indication)
USB Keyboard - dead
USB Mouse - dead
After reset button pressed - no kb or mouse

Yet another issue I have with my Assus A8N SLI Premium is [that] when I use my HP All-n-One USB inkjet printer and then power off the printer, my system seems to lose all connectivity to both video and all USB devices (keyboard, mouse, USB hub, etc...)
The only way to get things working...

With bios v1007, the onboard lan rom was updated. ( from asus bios 1007 info: 2. Update nVidia onboard Lan PXE ROM to V215.0503)
Could this be the culprit causing corruption?
I installed the 6.66 drivers - have NEVER [knowingly] installed or used the NVidia firewall. The firewall has never presented itself as a device, service or whatever.
My NVidia interface began experiencing the corrupted downloads and corrupted file copies - any data going through that...
ActiveArmor and Network Access manager are not running/installed.
I use a static IP. I am properly configured for pri and sec dns servers.

Thanks, Caveman, for pointing out the option in Asusupdate to flash older bios. I never checked that. I am not sure why that is. The Asus CD has no qualms about burning an ancient bios. :)

Given the a8n sli premium's vcore woes, do we really know what the vcore is really being supplied? Mine is currently set at 1.485v in the bios. CPU temp is at 52c with 2 - Prime95s running for almost 3 hours. I'll back it down to 1.45 or 1.6x tomorrow and see if it is stable.
I could have had a prime shot this morning after 15 hours. That would have been 2572MHz, 2,2,5, 333MHz ram and 1.475v vcore (bios). Ram was at 186.8.
I'll have one in the morning or later tonight.
I haven't tried to go higher than 2640. What is still relatively "safe"? 1.6v vcore?
I just changed it from 1.475v to 1.50v in the bios. It now fluctuates in CPU-Z from 1.488v to 1.520v (similar range in AIBooster). Temp is now stable at 54c (2 - prime95s giving it hell)
Idle was 34c.
If it was doing ok in Prime95 with vcore at 1.475v (bios), what would be the reason...
What should I expect to change? You are aware the vcoew setting in bios isn't accurately reported by the programs (CPU-Z / AIBooster/Probe)?

I have been experimenting using baby steps to see how this will clock up to 2640. It seems fine. I am at 52c with 2 - Prime95s trying to stress the hell out of both cores. I am running my XP-120 and Panaflo M1A (I hate there's no rpm monitoring for this fan!).

I think the stock HSF for the X2 is better than one would imagine. It certainly had no problems keeping my x2 4400 <= 54c @ 2570MHz with 2-prime95 running > 8 hours last night.
It was switched out this afternoon with my xp-120 and Panaflo M1A. XP-120 is about 2c lower. Hmmm
I should probably order another 120mm fan for the front. I do have the drive cooling fan running at low speed - I should set it to high and see how it goes.

Yep, I should give up with the GUI tweaker utils - and I have made my last non-bios tweak.
I have been primarily using the bios. It is pretty stable right now but vcore is such a grief with this board. It was ~1.39v (CPU-Z/AIBooster) when the bios vcore was set to 1.450v.

Voltage is not supposed to be limited to 1.5. I want to tweak it like others have without using the bios for every adjustment.
I have the latest ClockGen for NF4 that's available on CPUID but it still doesn't have K8 FID/VID. I upgraded chipset drivers to 6.66 and then bios to 1006.

I'll try trusting the bios vcore. My vcore has been fluctuating a few tenths in AIBooster and CPU-Z and I know it has been a little above 1.50 on at least one occasion.
