Thanks, magomago, I am not sure which one - XP, Sempron, etc. will work best in terms of value to price to functionality in this KK266 MB - ratio, but as long as it is after the XP point in time. OK.

Thanks, Mathias, I am on the research trail on the XP line, as you suggest. I see that Newegg does sell AMD CPUs wich are SSE enabled. The Motherboard compatibility aspect is another element. Other responses are quite welcome.

Is the slow speed of DVD Dual Layer (2.4X) a function of the writer or the media?

Interesting, thanks. 8x DVD+R DL. early next year. A responder stated that "52x CD's and 16X DVD's are at the rpm limits of the media". If so, we are not that far from the limits of DVD DL production. Ring true for you ?

anyone know a slick way to stop popups/popunders? there are driving me nuts.

Thanks, Zugzwang152, So, should I look for any specific "format" representation, or do all of the newer CD players always play CDRs ? And regarding your earlier point, is there a way to view and be certain that the Nero audio file was created in wav format ?

Looks like 100 folks on this board bought Fuji spindles - re: the rebate

If I use family and friends, and they never receive anything, I am that much less aware of it. But functional enough. I have done at least 2 of these rebates this year, so perhaps I will be OK with another.
