Also the review of samsung240B supposedly has an 8192KB buffer, hte lite on has 2048, so this SW-248 has the smalleest buffer. I guess I'll hang on and do some reasearch before installing.

So anyway what is the deal on the samsung?? I realize its only $20, but is the LiteOn better, best? If so why? Also are these drives loud or what, I have a 52x cdrom that sounds like a plane taking off. Just would like to clarify before I install it.

HI, so I read this thread earlier and went to pick one up. Now I get back and see BeLooken stating the part number. Well the one I got the part# is CDICD00118 and the drive model is SW-248. Obviously it is not the LTR, so what is the issue with this type. Or better, why is the Lite on better?

please help with recovering deleted files on floppy

Please help me recover my deleted Word doc. I wrote it on a floppy only on an old Win95 laptop. Then I opened it on a 2000 machine, and saved it to the C drive so that I could get it off the floppy. I dragged the doc to the recycle bin and emptied the bin completely. Later, I discovered that...

Help with reg crash

No OC, jsut running a duron 750 w/stock HSF, Iwill KK266R, 2-quantum fireball 40 gig (raid 0), radeon LE, netgear FA311 NIC, 512MB Crucial. This box has run great since I put it together, and I was just on it 15 minutes prior. I will check out the .bak files though thanks. Actually I forgot...

Help with reg crash

So I go to turn on my 98 machine and it says "windows error cannot load registry, do you want windows to fix it? Like an idiot I say Ok. So it reboots and now my Radeon and NIC drivers are gone. Resolution is jacked also. Only lets me have 2 or 16 colors and only 640X480 pixels. Question...

anyone seen a toshiba 3100 modem?

My gf just called cox@home (phoenix), they said they supply a Toshiba 3100 cable modem. I have searched forums, pricewatch, and even toshiba.com and can't find it anywhere. Anyone heard of it? I was trying to find it cheaper than $200.

Need win2k password help please

Viola, After bugging my friend some more He remembered writing down the admin password in one of my notebooks so I dug around and found it. Now I guess I have to figure out what user I am and get into that. Not how I wanted to spend my daybut at least I am learning something.

Need win2k password help please

tried that, no go . tried everthing I could think of. I read in a thred last week I think where you can reload over your existing os and not lose you data but I searched and couldn't find the thread

I am kind of new to 2k also.I don't know much about admin tools etc. As I said I didn't have to log on before so maybe I was a guest. We just had alot of crashing in 98 with some programs so my friend hooked us up with w2k.

Have a major problem. My friend installed win2k for me (upgrade)I think. Anyway I never had to logon, I guess he bypassed this. So my problem is now it wants me to log on but I never had any password before, it used to boot up like 98. My friend can't figure it out either. Is there a way to...
