I've seen pics of the Noctua NH-D14, the Thermalright Archon and The Xigmatek Prime fitting on the P8z77-I. I ordered a Thermalright Silver Arrow to put on this board, which should fit.

    remote for HTPC

I just bought it because I liked the look of it compared to the others. It does what I need it to. I only needed it to launch and navigate XBMC. It also comes with a USB IR receiver and it's only $25. As far as I can tell most MCE remotes are the same (have the exact same buttons etc.) The...

    remote for HTPC

I don't think it can be programmed to control your TV. Using Eventghost you can probably set up the remote to do this. I honestly didn't do much in Eventghost. On the XBMC forum there is a member who already did all the Eventghost stuff and I am using his XML file.

Looks like Apple is recommending the Targus ACB10US BT adapter now. Apparently some adapters have issues waking the computer from sleep. Anyone using a cheaper BT adapter on 10.6 and having no issues waking from sleep with a BT device? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3940

Hmmm I didn't try hooking up two monitors just the one. I connected one monitor with VGA or DVI and then switched between them. I'll take it to work tomorrow and try and two monitors. Edit: I tried putting a 9600 GT in and both of the DVI ports work fine on it. I guess it's just an issue...

Thanks for the response Mosslack. I don't have another monitor here at the house so I tried hooking it up to my plasma with a DVD-HDMI adapter and got the same results. Black screen with no desktop. The plasma was getting a signal because it flashed "1080i", but there was nothing on the screen.

Finally got everything the way I want it on this UD3P hack at work and when I bring it home I have an issue. I can't get the desktop to load when using the DVI connector. The screen goes black right after the apple loading screen. The monitor still thinks it is getting a signal because it...

Thanks for the file location. I just replaced the boot.png with a boot.png that I made. It didn't end up using the boot.png that I put in there (just a grey Apple logo), but it did switch to a different Apple logo, which is what I wanted.

It was memtest86. I was able to install Windows just fine. I'm going to run Orthos overnight just to make sure it's stable. It was memtest86 that was the problem. I tried it in my main rig and it exhibited the same behavior. I'm not going to worry about memtest anymore. I just wanted to...

Finally got all the parts for my cousin's hack. Slight issue though. I cannot get the EP45-UD3P to last more than 5 seconds in memtest without rebooting the PC when more than 3GB of RAM is installed. I bought a G Skill 4GB (2x2GB) kit and it'll run memtest fine with either of the sticks...

Ok, cool. So I think I'm going to swap the 9800 GTX+ for a passively cooled 9400GT. I think I may keep the NIC since it doesn't appear to have any issues. Any reason not to go with a 9400 GT?

I'm planning on building a Snow Leopard hack for my cousin for, mostly, graphic design work (Adobe CS4). Her husband will likely be doing some minor video editing in Final Cut. I was pretty much planning on using the specs from the Lifehacker article. UD3P TRENDnet TEG-PCITXR NIC (Is this...

    Has anybody tested this yet?

I'm thinking the detection of the previous install happens before you get to the formatting part in a custom install.

    Has anybody tested this yet?

Do the install again deleting the old partitions during the installation process and when you get to that point it'll accept your key the second time around. I deleted both the system partition and the main partition and it recreated both.

    Has anybody tested this yet?

I did a custom install both times. I didn't click activate windows because I hadn't entered a product key at that point (well, I did but it wouldn't proceed with the install untill I left it blank). I clicked "change product key" and it told me that I couldn't use an upgrade key. If you...

    Has anybody tested this yet?

I tried earlier entering the product key after the installation finished by right-clicking "computer" and going to properties on an empty HD and it didn't work. Is there something different than this in control panel?
  25. T

    Has anybody tested this yet?

You just leave the product key field empty and hit next it will finish the install without the key. Once you do this you need to reinstall, and this time enter the product key. Select "custom install" and then you can delete the previous partitions and reformat them.

    Has anybody tested this yet?

1.)I installed to blank HD, tried key not accepted (upgrade only) 2.)Booted to DVD again deleted the partitions that were created on the previous attempt and reinstalled. This time the key was accepted. I haven't activated Windows yet though because this is a work PC I was testing on. I'll...

    Windows 7 HP/Pro for $30 for students!!!

I think it just won't work as a clean install on a blank drive. If there is any kind of previous Windows installation it will allow a custom install. Edit: Installed to blank drive: Key not accepted Reinstalled over failed clean install (deleted old partitions): Key accepted

I completed the update and now my phone just displays the connect to iTunes graphic. When I plug it back in to the PC it errors out and says that it can't connect to the iTunes store. I've rebooted my phone a couple times and nothing. All I can do is make emergency calls. This sucks.

Time Warner Cable cancels usage caps

Slightly OT, but as far as AT&T DSL goes, does anyone know what constitutes "excessive bandwidth usage" as noted in their terms and conditions? AT&T Terms and Conditions: "Guaranteed Price for 24 Months: Price guarantee applies to monthly recurring charge for a period of 24 months from date...

I buy/rent a lot of TV shows and movies from iTunes and stream stuff from Hulu (I don't have cable TV), as well as the occasional beta OS release and game demos/arcade games from XBOX Live.
