Welcome to 1984?

I think that I loathe rap as much as a person can. That doesn't mean that I agree with the government trying to regulate what I can and can not listen to. Frankly, that is somewhat frightening. Although I share part of Red Dawn's sentiment I still can't condone Big Brother.

Win2k, Fat32 or NTFS? Is there a difference?

Yeah, there are special security tweaks and stuff you can do with NTFS that makes it a bit slower although I'm not sure how big of a performance hit your system would take if at all. But to keep things simple I'd stick with FAT32. Especially if you ever want to dual boot with Win98. You only...

Win2k and Win98 Boot problems

I agree with Staver, Win98 can't see NTFS 5.0 partitions so you pretty much screwed yourself by formatting the drive to that. When you want to dual boot and security really isn't a big issue then it is recommended to keep both partitions as FAT32. That way both will have access.

Well, first of all with the W2K machine you need add the Win98 user profile to the "Users and Passwords" in the Control Panel. Make it a Poweruser. Second, on the Win 98 machine you need to go in to Networking properties and turn on File and Print sharing. You don't really need to...

Anyone use Adelphia cable modem service, AND HATE IT?

Thanks for the info, they are installing that were I live now and I was thinking of getting it since there is nothing else out there comparable to it. They say they will be rolling DSL out there in July and dial-up sucks big time.

Hell, let people do whatever they want to their body. Just provides more entertainment for me!! I certainly wouldn't go out with someone who had huge tatoo's or unpleasant piercings on their bodies. Yet, it's still fun to look at the freaks.

Saint Pete Names Gym after potential cop killer... This one REALLY caught me off guard this morning.....

Yeah, I remember that incident. Even though I don't live in St. Pete at the time I'm still shocked that they would name it after that punk. It was because of that that all those riots started in downtown. Sad, so sad....

I also put my vote for W2K. I used to dual boot but that got to be a pain and I noticed that I wasn't using the Win98SE partition almost at all. Good luck

boot.ini Question

In windows explorer, you can also go in to Tools, Folder Options, View and then un check "Hide protected operating system files" (that will give you a warning) as well as check the radio button for show all files and folders. That is the way I did it.

Pentium 2 (Yes some of us still use them) & counter stirke

I still use a PII 400 myself and I have a Geforce 2 GTS. I play CS at 1024 x 768 all the time and the only problems I have with it is lag from my 56K modem.

W2K, Clean Install, Registry Corrupts After 4 Days, Help...

Hate to tell you this but it looks like the good old format c: command is going to have to come in to play this time. I don't really now what is going on other than that the HD might have some bad sectors. Hope someone else has a better solution for ya.

Avantages of NTFS over Fat

I have heard that NTFS will slow down your comp some because of the extra security features and such. If you have a dual boot system you shoudl stick with FAT even if you have W2K and NT because they use different versions of NTFS. But then again, why would you dual boot that way anyway?

Newbie help on Linux

I wouldn't recommend installing Linux on the same HD as Windows. Admittedly I am a novice with Linux Myself but I have been burnt too many times when dual booting on the same HD to do it again. If you have an extra HD that would be the way to go IMHO. Just my 2 cents...

Win2k Server + Burner = freeze

I agree with bacilus, there is a problem with EZ-CD creator. Depending on what you are burning you might want to try CDRWin. I but you should try reinstalling the ASPI aswell Just in Case. You can find a copy of it from www.goldenhawk.com under the downloads section. Link
