All smartphones, including iPhones, must have replaceable batteries by 2027 in the EU

The downside to this is far more lithium batteries being tossed into the trash vs properly recycled by repair facilities. I haven't had a modern phone that was replaced due to battery issues. And, Apple's answer will be some encrypted security locked battery so it will be of no benefit to...

Corrupt republicans aren't even competent enough to pull it off...

$19k lol Politicians on both sides are corrupt as fuck. They literally have to be, it's a complex system of lobbyists megacorps mixed in with policy and you no joke cannot leave state politics unless you're playing the game. Well, other than trump, who instead of working the system for...

Ever seen a business close due to being unable to find employees?

The fact of the matter is, PTO should be earned. You shouldn't be able to get a job, work for 3 days, quit, and expect them to pay out a full year of PTO. In your utopia, we all work for 2 highly regulated companies. Wal-mart, Microsoft, that's it. I'm honestly shocked that you're in your 50's...

Ever seen a business close due to being unable to find employees?

How old are you? It’s called accrued PTO. If you’re a lazy worker and are let go after 30 days you only have 1.5 days of PTO to pay out.
  5. P

Ever seen a business close due to being unable to find employees?

Yep which is why almost all companies nowadays use an accrual system for PTO. We’ve been burned by lazy workers who you have to fire or quit after a couple months and expect a huge PTO payout.

Ever seen a business close due to being unable to find employees?

I don’t have any lazy employees. Thankfully it’s highly skilled and requires a lot of work to get into the field.

Yea I’m better at spelling and grammar than math.

Ever seen a business close due to being unable to find employees?

    Accrue 1.5 days a month of PTO. 12 months x 1.5 = 18

Ever seen a business close due to being unable to find employees?

I give 18 days of PTO for year 1-3 of tenure. We also give, 3 maybe 4 personal days. PTO requires some notice, I think 10 days. Personal days require no notice. I came up with this before covid and WFH. Brutally honest, it's too much. Post WFH no one takes random days off ever. If I could do it...

Ever seen a business close due to being unable to find employees?

I expect bare minimum 40 hours a week. The occasional couple days a month 45-47 hour week. And if needed, 1 maybe 2 days a year of 50+ hour weeks during some major crunch. In 2023 I think I've seen one timesheet that was over 55 hours this year. Most are 42-43. I have a couple top performers...

    What is your turkey recipe/method?

Smoked turkey is my personal favorite, but it's nearly impossible to get perfect crispy skin. For thanksgiving, I think there's a certain.. je ne sais quoi, to bringing in a perfectly cooked turkey, carving it at the table, crispy skin, etc etc

Ever seen a business close due to being unable to find employees?

Minimum 3 days PTO I agree. I beat that by far. Same with mat and pat leave. 32 hour work week???? LOL sure and your base pay is AT LEAST 28% less

Ever seen a business close due to being unable to find employees?

Actually 2023 will be my most profitable year to date. We met 2022 revenue numbers in august.

Ever seen a business close due to being unable to find employees?

Employee's are responsible for their pay rate, at least in skilled positions. If you don't like your pay, and feel like you are contributing more than you're earning, you are welcome to go work elsewhere.
  15. P

Ever seen a business close due to being unable to find employees?

Depends on the employees pay vs market rate.

Brutally honest and not PC but I don't think the average native born american works that hard. Both on the right and the left.

Need another car reco from you guys

The way people drive in most large cities, especially post-covid and with the current anti-police mentality, is fucking nuts. My city, the cops don't even really give out speeding tickets. I haven't seen anyone running radar since pre-covid. Everyone drives 15-20mph over on the highway, no...

The Supreme Court takes up a case that again tests the limits of gun rights

I mean, they're breaking the law if they do that though. And what we're debating are gun laws. I don't think another "law" is going to stop someone from blastin over petty bullshit. It might stop some of the accidental deaths, that kind of thing. But it's not as clear cut as some are making it...

Who knows. Snap your fingers all guns are gone. Now the vegas shooter rents a uhaul, fills it with some concrete, and just mows down the crowd killing 2-300.

There have been at least 2 school shooter diaries where they specifically avoided certain schools that had armed teachers/resource officers. So yes, I think it is a factor.

The Supreme Court takes up a case that again tests the limits of gun rights

One of the worst mass casualty attacks is the nice incident with a box truck. 86 killed, 434 injured. Our worst mass shooting attack is the Vegas shooter from a few years back. 60 killed, 850 injured. Removing guns will not remove these crazy people.

That's literally how nukes work. Every country with nukes know if they nuke someone else they risk getting nuked. In an armed society, any criminal with a gun knows that if they cause someone to fear for their life they risk getting shot.

Or it's a 3 year old test mule that's been to the north pole and back? What is an elon rdf? For the record, I'm not a huge tesla fan. Or elon musk fan. The Supreme Court takes up a case that again tests the limits of gun rights

Firearms are the great equalizer. It is the only effective form of self-defense for a 90lb woman to defend herself against a 280lb attacker. It puts her on exact equal footing in defending herself. And, very ironically, historically stripping away second amendment rights really only negatively...

The Supreme Court takes up a case that again tests the limits of gun rights

I could strawman this over tons of different things - alcohol, motorcycles, sky diving, mountain climbing. Bottom line is yes, I think adults have what should be an inalienable right to protect ourselves, feed our families, and yes even have hobbies.

The Supreme Court takes up a case that again tests the limits of gun rights

I'm not budging on this issue, and neither are you, so there really isn't much point in debating it. I will never give up my right to own a firearm.

What are you talking about. Quote one post anywhere on this forum where I have been nasty and rude to another member. You might not agree with my opinions, that's fine, but I'm not wasting time debating with someone who loses their entire god damn mind screaming insults at me for my personal...

The Supreme Court takes up a case that again tests the limits of gun rights

Tons of valid purposes - for sport, hunting, and self defense. Just because guns are cool as shit is reason enough. The fact that it makes everyone more likely to die is inconsequential to me. It doesn't justify stampeding over our rights to protect ourselves, feed our family, and have a fun hobby.

The Supreme Court takes up a case that again tests the limits of gun rights

If someone is having a polite, honest debate I'm happy to go back and forth and dig up sources. When almost every interaction includes name calling, accusations of racism, and "MAGA" (whatever that is) why should I spend the time? It's a waste on deaf ears.

Discussion 2024 USA Election Thread: Biden and Dems might have problems in 2024 swing states - The Gaza Issue

I never stated otherwise. I said that if biden runs again, I have no choice but to vote for trump. Hell I don't even "want" to vote for trump, he's just the best option we will have unless dnc wakes up and pulls biden. I felt the exact same in 2016 and 2020. I didn't walk out of the polling...
