Thanks,
That is what I thought, as long as the coa is geniuine. Which brings a question. Anyone have any luck with getting these COA's from a reputable online dealer. I was looking at componentsdirect.com and powerstartpc.com. Neither of them have a good reseller rating right now. Anyone...
Hey gang,
I have what I think is a simple question, but I haven't seen it from the searches I just did. I have a pc that I have win xp home installed. I bought the full OEM version when I bought a new processor. Now I want to upgrade the second pc that I have in my home that the rest of the...
Well I have indeed downloaded the utilities and everything checks out and is "re-certified" by the factory by doing an extensive test. I am not sure what the test does thats so great but its just a mystery to me right now. Everything is backed up so I kinda want it to die so I can be certain...
I am interested in this subject as well. I have a 20gb quantum fireball as2
that on occasion has stopped spinning. You can hear a "click" and then the
drive whining down as the rpms drop - then it locks up and I have to reboot.
Usually It comes back up with no problem. Last time it went down...
I think the answer to that question is "it depends" For the most part if you can try it each way. I just got a new sk6 which I used my volcano II fan. It works really well, but I had the idea of trying it on "suck". For me it works better (1-2 degC) It is a little louder...

I am thinking about getting a delta and running at 5 and 7v possibly. What rpm does the fan run at at each of those voltages? I have a volcano II fan that pushes 25cfm at most which is ok, but if I get a delta and run it at 7v will it be better or worse?
Thanks,
You are not kidding!
I too just got the SK6 and it has a heinous machining swirl mark right in the center where the die would contact the heatsink. I lapped mine and started with 400 wet dry and it was massivley concave. I could not even it out. I had to back down to 220 dry first. That did...
Hmmm,
I have the same board and have used bios 2.4, 2.5 and currently using the overclockers 1.6. I have had voltage control on all of them. Sounds like you may have a bad board I guess?
Hey all,
I posted this last night in the mobo area I didn't get much help so I thought I'd put it here since this may be related to overclocking my system.
I am in my third month of running this board in my rig and all has been fine until lately. I am running the overclockers bios 1.06 and...
Hmmm,
I read you link and I'm a little miffed, but besides one person's email response from MSI there did not seem to show any official info on this and why it would not - Unless I missed something. Let's hope some others have some more information. Until the Atlon 4 comes and is widely...
Hey all,
I am in my third month of running this board in my rig and all has been fine until lately. I am running the overclockers bios 1.06 and have been running at 933mhz on an overclocked Duron 750. When it was a little cooler I was running solid at a gig, but I occasionally had heat...
Ive seen some reviews of the silverado noise control and I think that zalman flower that show that they come with 3 pin adapters with built in resistors of varying values so you can tailor the speed of your fan from 12v to 6v in 2 volt increments. Has anyone seens these available by themselves...
Well, I agree with you about the case. Its very "ventilated" This is why I may get a fan bus, and/or some quiet case fans like panaflos. I have tried running with the case fans off and it is quieter, but the volcano is still noticable and I can tell when all the fans are on. I wish...
I think that I may becoming somewhat more of a noise freak of late but here is the deal. I am currently using a volcano 2 on a duron 750 running at 1gig. Its been pretty good but temps sometimes creep a little too high on rare occasion depending on application - but all in all its been a good...
I remember awhile back some members were talking about different fan combos on the big swiftech rather than the load 68cfm delta. I was thinking about this because if I am correct its the only heatsink that uses an 80mm fan without an adapter. I am trying to make my pc quieter and was wondering...

Be just as careful pulling it off if you ever decide to do so for whatever reason. You'll need to push down on the clip as well and if you don't do it evenly you can crack/chip a core just as easliy if you were putting one on......
papadoum,
Ok, thanks for the info, but does it matter that my cas2 memory is running at cas3 settings now because I am forcing the PC100 memory to run at 133. Because then if its running at cas3 now, what would another 128 cas2 stick do for me. Would that run at cas3 also? I think it would...
I have an MSI K7T Turbo board running generic memory at 133 bus and 4 way interleaving. It is PC100 cas 2 memory that is overclocked at 133 bus. Sisoft reports 2-3-3 settings on that bank of memory when I run in SPD or 4 way interleaving. I get good scores and am happy. I would like to buy...
Have you tried the pencil trick on the L7 bridges to up the default voltage to 1.85v? I have a duron 750 that is at 7.5x133 now and all it needed was the extra voltage just before the bios initializes. The MSI boards have a slight delay prior to the bios values being set. Once you boot you...
Its a great stock board, and if you overclock a duron its great too! I think mainly athlons with higher clocks have problems. I have the board with a duron 750 and its running at 7.5 x 133. All I did was up the volts and run at default clock and bumped the bus to 133. I gig - it was pretty...
Hi gang,
I have the PF790 and would like to know if anyone has any problems with convergence and if they are happy with the text quality.
Along with comments please list the following:
What resolution etc are you using.
What is your vid card.

hey all,
(I am putting this here since "Heat and Cooling" are the major thrust of this thread but if it should go to one of the others go ahead and move it Mods.)
I just got a new duron 750 after the one I had died. I was running a volcano II with white thermal grease. Temps at...
Just read another one of those HSF reviews. This time a group of copper units. What bothers me is when I want to see how a new unit works relative to another I want to see them all tested in their stock condition. They had a Thermoengine and a WBK thrown in there for comparison purposes...
I have the same board and had an overclocked duron at around 1 gig. At idle my boards thermistor would register 42C and 48C full load. I ran it 950mhz because 48 was a bit high for me. I was using a Volcano II with standard silicone grease. To me it sounds like your temps are a bit high even...
Thanks,
I read the page before and noticed the special notes to use the /nbl parameter for the pro 2 and pro 2a users. I have the turbo so I didn't think that I had to do this. I'll give it a try though. Thanks,
Hi gang.
This is my first post here, although I have been a reader for a long time. For the most part I find the answers from previos posts. Not this time. I am trying to load the latest overclockers bios for my msi K7T turbo. I just flashed it to 2.5 and everything worked fine. The...
