nope was on battery drain and if you were doing multitasking(which isn't surfing internet and playing mp3s and such) the speedier spindle speed is noticed. But more ram(a 2GB is nice) is a better buy/hardware improvement... goodluck :)
2x2GB ddr2(and apparently all ram) is rather expensive at this time ..xp 32bit will see upwards to 3.5 but by going with a 2x1GB start you can add more(even if it is just another 2x1GB pr) later..just got thru setting up a 775 dell inspiron 530..it has 4x1GB in all 4 slots and running fine on xp...
my apologies ..am at work ,,.. anyway I'd go with<edit> http://tinyurl.com/yhyja8f .. and http://tinyurl.com/2p863z as the 4 dimm slots would allow additional ram added if/when prices drop..
lsX swap candidate there :D anyway 1st I bought was in 1981 a Pearl White 1974 mechanical lifters(higher revving potential :P ), reworked 2 barrel carb on top of a 2.8 V6, 8" lsd( nice twin strips of rubber ;)), and that lovely beside the shifter ..e-brake :D
you assembling/installing for him and providing support ? Changing a vid card/psu/burner is one thing assembling/installing software for the whole rig is another(even better setting up the bios for optimum performance while still being stable for everyday day in and out use ). It is why a few...
not exactly ..you'd order the dell and then use it as a base(highly suggest the vista ultimate installed then call in to dell support or the chat popup to get x64 version installed rather than x32 ;)) then if needed upgrade things like video, ram, and harddrive ..monitor if the 18.5" not cutting...
thanks for the reminder bump on this thread trying to get approval for the Tampa event(boss conveniently scheduled his vacation same week :( after giving tentative approval so dealing with his sub isn't going so well) as for your tiger deal you'll still have to acquire an os
for what you are doing I'll suggest a dell vostro 420 going the vista (business or ultimate) w/ or w/out xp downgrade (you'll be able to qualify for windows 7 for free or nearly free).. looksee at dell 420 possibly upgrade the monitor to the ultrasharp for $50 or sell off the default monitor if...
a google search of p3515311z9 results in an asus k8u x.. if a speaker is hooked to your motherboard and no beeps9with allother parts installed esp. known good memory )..your mobo is dead
do this first
Windows is the boot harddrive it can't get past the new hardware configuration it is attempting to recognize... so reboots galore.
Being as all his drives are IDE there are jumpers to configure as most likely his OS boot drive is set as Master on (as originally installed in old...
Try to let us know when your motherboard goes out as at that time you'll be definitely be doing an "upgrade" ...pretty much all electronics have an x amount of lifespan and I've(and others in the real world) seen newer computers than yours that have died an untimely death(power surges,dust...
Nero from 6 up pretty much supports multi burners
if using externally powered burners you shouldn't have an issue if you burn @4x and your laptop is modern spec(no 4200 spindle harddrives :P ). When I had my hp zv6000 (1.5gb of ram) I'd burn a CD(using the laptop's built-in unit @4x) and a DVD...
I do not believe that will work(the key as listed on the side is for show the actual key is embedded in the restore..partition or cd/dvd set) and will cause the op much grief and wasted time on an install ...much better to get the factory restore set which according to hp a264w is 5069 5083 or...
