OS recommendations for Celeron 366 w/128 mb's of RAM

ME will not give you problems. It just has a bunch of useless features that most people won't use. (In my opinion). And it's such a hog compared to 98. I will admit that it is a LITTLE more stable than 98.. Just a LITTLE.

How to block D DRIVE on Win2kServer to only admin TO FAT32 Drive

Or.. use "Sharing Permissions" It's not as robust as NTSF permissions, but works to some degree. Right click the dirve, select "sharing", select "Share this folder", remove the "Everyone" group, then add the admin you wish.

Why won't my HP let me install any OS's??

HA!! I spent many hours on trying to install a different OS my HP4450. HP is stubborn about letting you install anyting other than what came with the machine. Try this: boot to a floppy, run fdisk and remove ALL partions, create a new, then format it. You should be able to run the setup after...

OS recommendations for Celeron 366 w/128 mb's of RAM

I have a 366 Celeron with 128megs.. Win2k works fine on it, even Advanced Server. Of course it doesn't compare to my AMD T-Bird 1000 mhz. :D.. But the 366 is still ok. If you don't need any of the features of 2000, and it sounds you don't, then go with 98se. I've tested 98, ME, and Win2k on...

Rockwell HCF PCI modem under Win2k.. cant get it to work!

I had a similiar problem with a Rockwell combo card. Try these steps. First, remove the card from the pc, then boot up. Next, remove the Rockwell software in "Add/Remove Programs". Check Device Manager to make sure it's not there, if it is, then remove it. Goto "Phone and...

Why exactly is 98SE better than ME?

Easy john... Most of the computer "geeks" I know, do not like ME for various reasons. I don't like it because tweaking 98 and in 2000 is way easier. For one, if you disable the Restore feature, the OS will still make attempts to back the hard drive. Also, the Restore places a restore...

    hibernate in win2k

I agree. To tell you the truth... I tested once to see how it works and haven't used it since. It works the way it's suppose to, but it's probably better to just power down the laptop if you need to save power. It takes about the same amount of time and you are asured taht all your data is...

Can the Win2K SP1 Folder Be Deleted??

Hi, I just installed SP1 for Professional and it created a folder called Service Pack 1 or something like that. Does anyone know if it's ok to delete the folder to clean up disk space or does the OS look for the updated files there?? Thanks, Oggy Doggy

    A little advanced help please.

If you are a "network admin", then you should know this.. If you really want people at work not to see the sites you go to, then do your internet browsing at home. The policy set at your work are probably in place for security purposes. I'm don't mean to be blunt.. However, it...
