    USB Driver Install Help

I'm trying to fix a Dell XPS 410 desktop. It had a "keyboard failure" error and it seems to have messed up the USB drivers. When Windows XP loads it prompts for the drvers, but the keyboard or mouse will not work. There are no PS/2 or serial connectors on this computer, only USB. I've tried...

thanks guys, i'm guessing it's toast. however, like i had mentioned, after i tried chkdsk and fixboot C: is only recognized as 10mb w/ the ntldr files only on it (using a boot CD). Is there any way to access what was lost on the rest of the drive?

    Need help w/ boot problem

thanks, i'll give it a try Well I ran the WD diag tests and here's what came out. 1. I got an error code 0007 2. It failed the "Raw Read Error Rate" as below threshold (thresh= 51, value=1) Does this mean the drive failed?

    Need help w/ boot problem

I have a relative's computer that had the "unmountable_boot_volume" error. It would BSOD after the Win XP boot screen. It would not even start in safe mode. I tried to access C: via a boot CD to back some files up but I could not even access the drive as it said that the drive was not even...

Intel P35 http://www.anandtech.com/cpuch...ts/showdoc.aspx?i=2993 Also, if you're asking e6600 or e6700, you can save money and get the e6600 as it will easily o/c to the e6700 level.

    Ninja or Tuniq Tower?

If noise is a concern, the Ninja will work better with a lower CFM/quieter fan. Otherwise, the Tuniq should be cooler overall.
  11. M

    Any suggestions on my build?

Looks pretty good overall. Maybe take a look at the Tuniq Tower heatsink as an alternative. Although, the Thermalright is a good one.

    Are Foxconn mb's reliable?

I think you'll be fine with Foxconn. They make the Intel BX2, which gets good stability and performance reviews. I have the Intel board and it's been fine. You should also be fine with the onboard sound, unless you're really demanding.

    skt 939 mobo

Well it really depends on what you need and what you want to spend. If you're spending all that money on the R600 card, I don't know why you'd base the system on a dead s939 platform. Basically, you need to give more info. Also, are you on socket 939 now?

Any good overclocking guides for the P5B-E?

There's a guide someone did here http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/for...=e3ee3d30841cf86a50e8eb4cc7ff0e2e&f=59 I can't find it now, try searching there. I know it was either w/ the P5B-E or Dlx. They showed BIOS screenshots.

Please help me decide between these two mb's

You mention SLI, Intel chipsets don't officially support that. If you need SLI, you need an Nvidia chipset. I wouldn't consider SLI if I don't need it and definitely not as a future-proofing measure. Anyway, 975x doesn't have the Jmicron IDE controller issues people are having with the P965...

Recommendations for a Mobo for the E6600?

Gigabyte DS3 3.3 Generally, a 975X board is going to run you more money than that. Some to check would be the DFI Infinity, Asus P5W-DH and Intel D975XBX2 (Bad Axe 2). However, if there isn't some specific reason why you want a 975X board, I like the DS3 recommendation...good features...

    Please help

Well #1 I'd only spend the money on a 680i if I NEEDED SLI, otherwise I think you'd be better saving some money there. There is a cheaper 680i called 680i LT, which is pretty new. Initially, those boards did have problems, but I think a lot have been worked out now, can't speak from experience...

I'd say the Asus as well, it's a proven board and I just personally prefer Intel chipsets for Intel processors.

Building a computer for the first time. Looking for some suggestions

For memory, yes get the 2 1GB sticks. Crucial is a great brand and Corsair is good as well. You'll be fine with either. Patriot had a nice 2GB kit out as well and I've had good experiences with Mushkin in the past. The P5B-E is a nice board, another in that price range to check out would...

DFI RD600 or Abit AW9D MAX?

DFI RD600 or Abit AW9D MAX?

I don't think the RD600 is worth it. I'm pretty sure that's the only board on that chipset. Just look at the [ H ] review.. http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html?art=MTI3Miw2LCxoZW50aHVzaWFzdA== especially the "bottom line" at the bottom of the page. I'd take the Abit (975X) over the...

Any critiques for my proposed new system?

The 520W will be fine. Either is a great PSU, but the 520W will be fine for that. What size display do you have? If you've got like a 19" or so, you should be fine with the 320MB GTS if budget is getting close.

So Confused, Please Help with MB selection for E6600

I'll agree with the suggestion above on the P5W. I personally would look at the P965 or 975X chipset and go Intel on Intel. With an e6600 you don't need to reach real high FSB to o/c it either.

    New Build E6300, 2gb, 680i

If you don't need SLI x16x16, you more than likely don't need the 680i. If I were you I'd go with a P965 board. http://www.nvidia.com/page/nforce_600i_tech_specs.html

    New Build E6300, 2gb, 680i

Definitely on the motherboard, unless you're getting that for the x16x16 SLI specifically. If you want Nvidia, look at the 650i http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLi...6983&name=NVIDIA%20nForce%20650i%20SLI Or look to the P965 for Intel, specifically the Gigabyte S3 and DS3...

If you needed to save money and don't care about SLI, you could get a nice P965 board. The GTS 320MB should be fine for a 19" LCD. RAM, I'd say get some good DDR2-800. Here's one w/ a nice rebate http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220144 PSU look at Seasonic...
