I have this problem, the only way that I can get it to run at 16x is when I first reboot, I let it go thru the memory scan and give it a CTRL+ALT+Del to reboot, after the reboot it always will run at 16x, if I do not reboot it will always run at 1x from a cold boot.
I know there's some Linux distros that is dedicated to being a firewall with a gui interface, is there such a distro that I can install that will only function as a apache/mysql server? I know most distros package apache but I don't want to mess with the configuring and getting the packages for...
I've come across some problems that involve loading Java programs in IE 6.0. I can usually load the program as one user but can not as another. The only fix I can find to the problem is deleting the profile that does not work and creating a new one, once I do this the Java program loads. Is...
Figured it out, PCIE 100mhz would make it stay at x1, but bump it up to PCIE 110mhz and it's at x16, don't really understand why this works though. Thanks for the help.
BTW I have the FSB @ 430, I'm sure that messed with the PCIE.
Okay I reset the BIOS and it went back to x16, but once I oc the cpu it goes back to x1. Only thing I touched in the BIOS was Jumper Free. Is there something else in the BIOS volt wise that I would have to change so it goes back to x16.
I don't understand any of the BIOS settings for the PCIE stuff so I left as is, so when I go into CPU-Z it says Link Width = x1 Max Supported = x16. I'm running at 7900 GTO and it seems sluggish when I'm in games, is there something I'm missing for it to run in x16?
So I got a Sempron 2800 AM2 for dirt cheap to mess around with while I wait for the AMD price drops. I'm trying to get 8x300 = 2.4 on it right now but confused about the DDR2 speeds. I know with plain DDR that ran at 200 I would have to use dividers to go over 200, now since DDR2 is rated at 800...
I just got the Microfly in yesterday, that was quick shipping. It's a nice case but does not come with a PSU so I just ordered the X-Finity 500w, version 2 from what the picture shows, from Radio Shack for $9.99 AR. I'll post some pics in SFF when I get all my parts next week.
I have a A75-231 Toshiba and looking to strip it down. I noticed it is using the P4 548 3.33ghz chip, according to this, it's listed as a Socket 478 chip, so can I use this chip on a desktop mobo? And if so, any suggestions on a good socket 478 mobo?
I'm thinking about building a HTPC and have a question about the video quality of recorded material. I used to own a TV tuner a couple years ago and recorded video awhile back and remembered the quality wasn't that great when played back on my monitor. Does the video look better when played back...

Current setup is:
Opty 165 @ ~2.6
DFI NF4 Infinity
BFG 7600 GT
1gig Corsair XMS

I'm pretty hardcore WoWer, World of Warcraft, so most of the time I run two instances of WoW in windowed mode with all graphics settings turned down. The resolution is set at 1024x768 and my...

heres the deal on the card, you fill out like 3 lines on the application and it should only take less than a min to do a credit check, they do that by scanning a credit card or debit card you have.
what do you get with the card? they send you coupons and give you like $15 off when its your...
theres no code, its already marked down on the website or you can go to the b&m. i think the deal is only hot if you sign up for a credit card at the b&m to get another 10% off.
i work br, the deal is 30% off FULL priced outerwear and if you sign up for the br credit card they knock off 10% off after the 30%. the 15% was just a special that ran up to the 17th of nov.
i was wondering if i could zip a bunch of files into seperate files, like say i have file.txt file1.txt file2.txt and somehow i could zip them and they will be file.zip file1.zip file2.zip. what program would do this or how do i go about doing this. thanks
for $800 i would suggest you get a nice firewall that includes a vpn client software. the firewall has 2 advantages, the security that your servers aren't directly exposed to the internet and the vpn software included with some firewalls are very nice and easy to config.
what is your question? do you want each machine to have its own external ip? i used to work alot with vpn but i have no clue what you are asking to do.
yeah i knew the netgear couldn't do it. i was just wondering if it was possible to do, which i found out is possible. but the dns work around is good enough for me. thanks guys
nope its not possible, but after i posted this i thought of a way to fix this. it's the same thing lord evermore is talking about. for those who are curious, the fix is to just add a dns entry to point to the server, so you don't have to run around and change all the individual machine's hosts...
