Just ordered a 9850 BE

I am looking for a quiet air cooling solution for the AMD 9850 BE. I also ordered the MSI K9A2 Platinum to put it in. How is the stock cooler?? What are you guys using to cool this CPU?? I need it to be quiet. Thanks

125W Phenom in my 780G mobo? It's more likely than you think.

Correct. I have been researching HTPC and it appears from a couple of sources that Intel is having issues with Blu-ray. They probably won't have a solution until 2008 Q3. So for now they are not an option if you build HTPC with Blu-ray.

Have you guys (Rhoxed, Gikaseixas) needed to update the BIOS on the MSI K9A2?? Or is that board pretty much ready to go out of the box?

The Phenom did pretty well at the HD x264 encoding. Beat the Q6600 and on the heels of the Q9300.

How about a sticky on HTPC case recommendations?

ATI RV770 in May??!!!

How about just using 2 HD 3870 (non X2). A single MSI 3870 is about $160 at newegg after rebate. So get 2 of those for about $320. How much is the perfomance hit doing that instead of the 3870 X2 @ $450+?? Just a thought

MSI K9A2 Platinum

Any one have a MSI K9A2 Platinum V2 ???? I found it listed when I was checking a few memory configurators. MSI doesn't say to much about it. http://global.msi.com.tw/index...d_no=1395&maincat_no=1 I would assume a newer version means better than the first version??

Nope, never had a bad one in probably over a hundred builds. Only time they go bad is when they are installed improperly. Meaning cooler installed poorly.

When will AMD's Shanghai CPU come to market?

The last Anand article about the phenoms says: "AMD is still on track to begin shipping its first 45nm Phenom processors (Deneb core) by the end of this year and it doesn't make sense to waste time and resources respinning a 65nm Phenom, when presumably these clock speed issues are addressed...

What is your CPU History

Intel 75mhz ->AMD 450 -> AMD Duron 600 -> AMD Athlon 900 -> AMD Athlon XP 1200 -> AMD 64 3200 WHich is current machine. Plan to upgrade in the next few months to a Phenom

Actually it is the definition of smart economics. Suppy and demand. By the way wholesale cost on the X800XT PE are roughly $550 (for low volume purchases). I get them from a distributor in Chicago. So after paying Ebay fees, Paypal fees the real cost is about $590. Then ad a 20% markup you get...

6800 GT Users: Post your O\C Results

440x1150 OC with Gainward 6800GT Golden Sample. No issues running doom3 at all with this setting. GPU Temp does go up from about 55 to 67 though. Timedemo in Demo3 at 440x1150 (no AA) 1024x768 84.3 fps 1600x1200 69.2 fps However I have scaled it down to 420x1150. This is a great card:)

BFG 6800GT overclock "doesn't stick"

yes, after you test the new setting you need to check the box that says to "save at start up". Then you will be good to go.

DOOM III IS SUPPOSED TO BE DARK!!!!

The darkness needs to be there. I doubt that I am the only one who tried to kill a monster with the flashlight:) The game is cool and I actually jump when I get surprised.

ATI cancel X800XT PE?

I think I just landed an ASUS X800 XT. So they are still in the pipeline. My source got a case in(4). I got the last one. I plan on throwing it on Ebay to make a profit to help pay for my 6800GT I got last week. Me bad for doing that but, it is plain old economics.

why are some nv fans so hard on the competing ati products?

Well I cannot say anything bad about the 6800GT. My Gainward Golden Sample 6800GT will run at 440 Core\1150 Memory in Doom 3 without a glitch. Would probably go higher if I tried. However the gains are minimal so will run it at 420/1150. It is also runs 55 degrees idle and about 67 after...

Isnt DOOM3 a failure???

He needs a new video card... Run D3 on a 6800GT and you have awesome gameplay. Not sure what the shiny stuff is??? Everything appears to be covered in blood in my D3:) It should be dark so you get bull rushed by a demon wile your holding a stupid flashlight....if you could see eveything then...

Gainward 6800GT Golden Sample arrived today. Looks awesome just like the photo on the web. You only see it preclocked at 400x1100 with thier ExpertTool. I prefer coolbits though. Going to do some OC'ing to see how it goes.:D
