Is it possible to recover data off of a hard drive that was fdisk'd?

Logging in, in Windows XP, but forgot PWORD. NOW WHAT?

Editing huge Unix files

What's the size of the file? I always thought vim's limit on file size was pretty big. (I thought the same about emacs). Couldn't you use dd to get the beggining of the file, edit and put it back? I've used that for hard disks and it works. cl

What did you expect? I mean, it's not like you press a key and the other OS takes over. If you wanted that you could always buy one of those million dollar machines from IBM that run multiple OSs simulataneously. OR you could just run VMware on your PC. cl

What Grahics Card do you use in Linux?

nVidia has good (closed source) drivers. The give good performance but are not liked too much since they don't release the specs. The open source drivers for their cards are not that good. ATI has good open source drivers. However, AFAIK they don't perform as good as the nVidia closed source...

You are using the same version right? Also, there is nothing external stopping this right? ( like /etc/hosts.deny on the server? ) What messages are you getting? Can you log in from other machines? Have you tried from windows or another OS? Can you telnet? Can you ssh the other way around...

You can buy a distro from cheapbytes, they are pretty cheap and will sell you even burned copies of beta releases. Did you try a mirror near you of the distros? Downloading from the main site is often slow. Try downloading from a big site or a university. You can try to install debian too...
