yup ^ check that HSF is mounted correctly, and that it is plugged into the CPU fan header. Try resetting the CMOS.

Yes they do. Not 100% sure about the 9600 series cards, anything above 9800 >* will have at least one DVI port. So check before you buy really. The cheaper end cards sometimes have stuff "cut-off" to make them cheaper, hence the possible lack of a DVI port. So, check the item specs and you...

I think phantomracoon is testing us, i've been back 5 mins and seen this kid post more than one "less-than-usefull" post. As such i will say you can't overclock your RAM. In fact if you even try it will blow up and kill 5 small children in Texas.

ditto. if you can't justify the cost of Cat6, Cat5e will do but for futureproofing (this is what houses do remember...) Cat6 is the best choice.

PSU Query

If it's a nice branded PSU, probably yes. A Tagan 480W, OCZ Powerstream, Hiper 480W would be better though. DON'T SKIMP! In the UK, we rave about the Tagan as being one of the best performance to £ you can get, before you start getting to £100 OCZ Powerstreams. If you can get Hipers...

Probably little to ZERO difference. RAM modules are a little more complicated than they used to be back in the PC133 etc days, when CAS 2 / 3 were really the only things to measure performance on (apart from the FSB ofcourse). These days with DDR, you get numbers like 3-8-8-4. These...

Which vid card for my rig?

9800 pro 0wns the 9600 series. If you have the dosh, the 9800pro would be great. Find a nice 2nd price, or consider a 9700pro if you can still find them on the other side of the pond. eBay will probably be your best bet on your budget - unless you crave for a fully warrantied product.

as already said its 3.1/3.16v, but DFI have said they are likely to bump that up to 3.3v in a future BIOS release. pimpin!

My K8V-SE Deluxe manual tells me only AGP 8x/4x cards are supported, and that 3.3v (2x cards) will not work, nor even fit in the AGP slot. Sorry :(

Just spoke to Hantai our server god, and that it was in fact our hosters going mental - not a bandwidth problem or anything. We are in the process of moving over to a new server box to rectify some lingering problems, mainly email related. It looks like the site/store/forums are ok now.

Check the link below for piccies on how to identify a fake XP processor. Over-Clock.co.uk (my fave store :D) has just recently intercepted some fake XP's - very strange - AND from two suppliers. I wonder what's going on? And is there anything like this going on in the states? Difficult to tell...

the abit nforce2 is not shipping in the UK yet. Mid December apparently. however, the Epox and Asus ones are shipping. Personally i would wait for the Abit :)

Which XP+ seem to overclock the best?

my TWO (important as if u only have 1 it will usually be better) 256 sticks (ECC and Reg btw) did 169 no probs with some increased voltage, plus high timings. now i have Corsair 512module PC3200 CAS2 :D

Looking to buy new memory need some advice please. DDR question.

it's usually best to have identical modules, but if you are not going to be overclocking then you should be absolutely fine. I would put that Samsung stick in DIMM1, or whichever module is larger in DIMM1. dimms have to run at the same speed as each other, so i would guess that your mobo would...

Do I really need this much video card - is it overkill???

processor power is the major factor, so the Ti4200 looks to be ideal. you could go for a GF3/Radeon, but the Ti4200 and Radron 9000's would probably be your best option, as they are great value.

need HELP on building a gaming server

with 32 players you will need some serious bandwidth. What kind of internet connection are you running this beast on? for the lowest possible lag, Dedicated Linux servers are usually the best. Plus it is cheap to buy/download linux.

RADEON 8500 3Dmark score ???

9000 seems to be a good score. you may find that some BIOS tweaks alone may get you to 9000. You have some nice ram there, so you should be able to do some nice overclocking. search google and you may be able t find exact settings on what your mem/mobo gives best results. goodluck. Madonion

Kx7-333 owners: couple of questions please

you need stick #1 in DIMM1, and stick #2 in DIMM3. (or stick #1 in DIMM2 and stick #2 in DIMM4). that should help overclocking and stability. and thats a a fact.
