In Canada ha, the MX400 is a good choice, not the MX200 though. The MX400 definitely will perform better than that TNT2 16MB.

anti-cracking athlon plates

Problems w/ AGP4x

First your performance shouldn't be affected by it. 2X and 4X in today's games doesn't really show any improvement. If the vid card access or write to the main RAM, there is a hugh performance hit, although 4X suppose to suffer less, but you still see the hit. e.g stutter when enter a new room...

Why can't I install the ATI All-in-Wonder?

Yeah reformat if you can. OR use regedit and search for the 3dfx stuffs and delete them. After set to Standard display, try restart then install the AIW driver, just to make sure. - foolish suggestion. The problem is mostlikely cause by 3dfx driver reminded on your system.

Matrox g450; still good 2d or obsolete?

No, no one had pass the matrox yet, especially not Nvidia. The radeon come close but not reach there yet. So matrox still the best in 2D. I think matrox is going to release a version without dual head.

No hyperZ thats why you have to hack for it. If you don't like hacking use tweaker to do the job for you. Like powerstrip or Radoen tweaker. I personally recommend the Radeon tweaker, wrote for Radeon more options.

Forget the MX. I wouldn't go for it because of the 2D and it does not perform better than the other 2. Between the LE and Kyro2 - I say Kyro2 since UT and Max Payne(developer claimed) to perform good on. But the LE wouldn't perform bad either, better 2D and DVD quality with you want them.

The AC97 Codec is partially software base solution for onboard sound, it dependent on the CPU for processing data, thus slow down your PC overall performance. Also the sound is crappy.

Radeon LE owners....please read...

It is worth buying, my running at 183/183 stable, at 193/193 the card shown artifacts after a while, I guess is a heat related problem. I only have a generic on top of that black heat sink.

Sound like a problem of Nvidia driver clash with ATI. I had the exact situation except that the Viper is not a ultra. The thing ran flawlessly until I delibrately play around with it. Did you uninstall the TNT2 driver first and make it set to Standard display than install the Radeon LE driver...

What kind of heatsink would you use with these processors.

Some more standard heatsink like the VolcanoII would be good enough if not o/c, but if you want to try how about the GWFOP38. It doesn't hurt to have extra cooling.

Tekram S381-M/ML only do a 2MB share onboard video; solution?

This is a 810 chipset board only share 2MB, at least that is the only options in the bios, even with bios updates. Any solutions to share more? I have not personally see the board yet, only questioned by a friend. That is all the info I got.

S3 is not out, you can find them more in the mobile than desktop market. The product I think was the 2000. Not bad but didn't live up to expectation and of course support.

What is the temperature at?Does it go up higher? If the temperature is at a reasonable level and you don't want to bother with that - DON'T. But if you are suspicious and 9 months is quite some time you should DO IT. It really depends on the temp.

Hercules 3D Prophet 4500 or GeForce 2 MX-400?

The 3D prophet 4500 is the better choice. The MX would max out at res above 1024X768 while the Kyro still can go up higher. The TV-out feature is one of the best feature from Nvdia nor Kyro (ATI of course). So either don't matter on this one. The MX can do trilinear + anistropic at low res...
