AGP power supply on K7 master?

On my K7 Master there is a connector labeled AGP Power Supply in the manual...but that's the only mention of that plug. There is a plug from the power supply that would connect to it, but I haven't heard anything else about this. Do I need to hook it up? Is it a seperate power source for AGP...

Ok, computer (mostly) assembled, next step?

Ok, turned on PM. :) Hmm, according to the MSI K7 Manual, that plug on the motherboard is listed as an "AGP power supply". Kind of odd, is the AGP card powered seperately from the MB? Should I plug in the ps to that plug or not? There is nothing else in the manual about it.

Ah, so I should take out the sound card and network card before installing and getting the system running. Thanks, good advice. :) And yeah, I'm taking my time. Keeps frustration levels down. :)

Where can I get an I/O shield...

That will work with the MSI K7 master MB and the Fong Kai 320 case? The one that Directron sent with the case is a bit too high for the mb.

Problem inserting CPU...

Phew, thanks. Got it on fine, didn't realize it needed any pressure. The heatsink was much tougher to clip on. ;)

MSi K7 Master (AMD761/Via 686B) and TBird 1.33Ghz, a good choice?

Hehe, got a stick of 256 meg of crucial PC2100 ready to go. And a Leadtek GeForce 3. Just wanted to borrow a grounding strap from work before I assembled the set. :) Btw, I got the Fong Kai 320 case. Gotta say I like the layout and look of it. Big case though, but very nice.

price sticker on my AMD chip?

Ok, thanks. Just wasn't sure if there was any risk of it bursting into flames or anything (or if it would affect the heat dispersion, but then the heatsink only touches the core). :P

price sticker on my AMD chip?

I got my 1.33 chip from newegg yesterday, and noticed there is an (unmarked) price sticker on the chip. It's not on the core, but one corner of it does seem to be touching one of the contacts on the chip. Should I try to remove the sticker before installing? Or is it fairly innocuous?

Ok, so when I get all the pieces for my computer, what next?

This will be the first time I've built my own system. All the pieces should arrive within the next few days, but I'm a bit confused about the proper order of installing components, setting jumpers, and flashing the bios, etc. For example, will I need to download the newest VIA 4in1 drivers...

Need some opinions..

You may also want to wait for the SiS based motherboards. They'll allow you to use either SDRam or DDR Ram. And their performance looks very promising.

THIS is my last system!!!

Aye, the PS2 is supposed to drop it's price by $100 in the fall, so it will be only around $200, which is when I'll probably pick one up. I also saw the preview for the Final Fantasy movie in the theatres a few nights ago. All I can say is WOW.

You can get the 1.2 gig 266 thunderbird from Newegg for around $155. If you want a board with overclocking settings, you might want to check out the MSI K7 Master, which also uses the AMD 761 chipset, and has gotten good reviews. Runs around $153 also from Newegg.

Any difference between GeForce 3 cards?

So far I've seen VisionTek, Leadtek, and MSI all put out versions of the GeForce 3, but I've only seen reviews of the VisionTek one. Anyone know anything about the others?
