Very sad...:( I actually looked at newegg's reviews before and it seemed that all 500GB SATA drives with more then a couple reviews got 4 point avarages. Reading further now, there is some difference, but I'm pretty sure I can't get any different drive now.

Testing a new Seagate 7200.11 ST3500320AS

I bought a ST3500320AS drive for my parents, so that they have more space. I formatted and then checked it with Norton Disk Doctor - all was fine, I took it to them, installed, cloned to it and in less then a day it died. Now, it's a pretty long drive going back to restore + some of their data...

Makes sense - they imagined it hooked up to some standalone blueray/hddvd through DVI in order to utilize the HDCP @ full resolution, but could imagine no one using the VGA for video. And they do mark the DVI cable as something ...optional for PCs.

The 2007WFPs should all be S-IPS. The 2007FPs are either S-IPS or S-PVA. Dell uses both to get a better price, and I don't think that they'll tell you which one you're going to get.

Yeah, my guess is more like Murphy's laws based than reason... Also, like I wrote above from inspecting one case, it seemed to act simply as a 20 bit display. I don't know about the other displays, but I guess a sharper display would also display flaws better. I think it's a good idea comparing...

Thanks all! Yes, these are two complete systems that sell for a similar price. A retired relative needs someting to start with. I don't wish to build a system and then have to drive over every time that they lose a shortcut...:confused:

Hi there For a general usage PC which would you recommend? Both are 64 bits. I guess the celeron is 341, but I can't find any relevant benchmarks. Price is the same. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.:)

WXGA wide screen display - disadvantages?

As I understand it, a wide 14" display should be as wide as a normal 15", only shorter in height, so it shouldn't be wider then a regular 15" display. However, with 1280 pixels across it probably is a bit dense, isn't it? I guess that's an individual matter... Thanks all! dnd

Thanks for your tips.:) Yes, the weight was one of the considerations. He's not buying in the US, so the price is no more then tepid in US standards. Also, I haven't found that model in the US or even hp.com... If anyone thinks WXGA is an annoyance then I would sure appreciate your comments...
