Messenger 5.0 confusion

So anyone installing MSN messenger 5.0 on XP will have multiple copes running, I presme you then have to mess around trying to remove the original messenger.

I would advise people not to install the latest messenger update on XP, ive seen it on 3 machines so far and they're all the same. It causes norton to hang on shutdown and also messes with the 'bits' service, which was a problem with the original messenger and was fixed in the second update but...

Xbox vs. Geforce 4 ti4600's graphics capabilities

I think for the most part it is the intro to the game but still is rendered in real-time. There are what seems like ingame shots for the last 10 seconds or so of the video.

Just thought I'd point out that a Geforce 4 ti4600 alone has a grand total throughput of 0 Polygons per second. These figures people are throwing around are they maximum theoretical for the card or is this as part of a system? If I had to put my money on one, I would say the Xbox could produce...

Looking through various tech articles on the net I noticed there seems to be massive variation in the polygon throughput figures for hardware accelerators and the modern consoles. Firstlty there seems to be no mention of textures/lighting used to derive said figure, surely this would affect the...

.NET sdk - This may sound like a daft question

Can I install it on another machine then copy across the tools (compiler etc.) and the api (like J2SE) to my main machine and just shove it all in a single folder? I want to be able to compile/run apps without the bulk of the sdk. I have a feeling the entire sdk will screw up my very stable...

What does the .NET sdk actually install?

Can someone give me a rundown on what the sdk will install, directories etc. Is it like the J2SE with a main folder or does it let rip all over my HD? Why do I need IIS installed, I don't want to use IIS? Thanks

What would you do if...

Update I have ordered a new drive so... The gxp has been formatted using the 'Erase Disk' on the ibm tools. It has been tested several times and show no bad clusters. Now I'm not sure if the clusters have been hidden or actually sorted out (i.e no physical damage) What do I do with the drive...

Internet browser fails after a while on the net - have to reboot system in order to reaccess the net-HELP

I had the same problem but cannot for the life of me remeber how I cured it, I'm sure it just went away. Do you have a USR modem by any chance? On my machien the connection icon was still in the tray but wouldn't send or receive a single byte. I think my i.p was set to 000.00 etc. Few ideas, go...

Swapping JDK's - Problem?

How do I get Java working for Winodows XP?

Just a small observation, the VM in the 1.3SDK, the plugin didn't work with IE6 in XP. The updated version 1.3.01 worked fine. 1.4beta works too in XP.
