So I'm asking if one person wants a thread locked because he finds something offensive, why is it locked? Is it because he posted a message in 'Forum issues.' I find it unfair. If the AT moderator read the list and also agreed that the post was offensive, I would have no problem with the lock.

I think you're overestimating the teaching experience of that instructor. I've found that the longer a teacher teaches, the more he teaches on 'cruise control.' Younger teachers are more enthusiastic and want to encourage free thinking. Older ones rely on past material and past assignments...
