I am building a Supercomputer, and need help!!

Here's some interesting reading. Might help a little. Klat2 Friend of mine saw this running, it's fairly impressive. They talk about the interconnection topology as well..

Many Windows 2k problems please read

I get that irq error sometimes, too. Has to do with a Quadro2MX, and also with adaptec ezcd, in my case. as for the service pack here use the network install. It's the 101+mb one.

geforce2mx (quadro2mxr) memory swap

I just completed the part change to make my GeForce2 MX card think it's a Quadro2 MXR. Easy fix, and works like a champ. Now I'm wondering if anyone has tried to change the sdram on board over to ddr? Or even upping it to 64mb from 32mb? I've got the smd tools, and the experience to use it...

Need help Installing Windows 2000 properly (AMD, AGP, etc)

Did mine, had no problems at all. Geforce2mx, dual 733's, dual boot. Just after you get the os installed, head over to via and get the newest 4in1's. The only booger was getting the win-tv card done, but hauppage had some good drivers on the site. Just make sure you get the card recognized...

Eek - got mad and punched my wall... need help on repairs!

I fixed a hole couple of weeks ago, took about 20 minuts. Drywall mud and a piece of drywall to fill the hole. easy fix.

sounds like one of the old caching controller cards...I had one that would format a 6gb hard drive in 15 seconds. Why did everyone quit making/supporting them?

Roofing is SUCK

I watched a guy with a hammer absolutely spank a guy with an air gun. It was no contest. He'd been swinging the hammer for almost 25 years, though. Gotta do my garage in a couple of weeks.

I've had a Toshiba, and dealt with their tech support. Not too bad. Ibm's tech support blew them away, even to the point that they've called me afterwards to make sure everything's ok with the system. I'm in Compaq tech support hell, 3 trips back for the same problem, and they really don't...

Insulators ??

On the one's I've assembled, all of the mounting points are part of the ground plane. You don't want to insulate them, or you will have problems later.

controlling multiple fans with single fan header?

We're only talking about using the fan header as a turn-on, should be less draw than a fan. Of course, it's a valid point, the only time the fans should turn is when the computer is on. Still gonna do it, though.

The bosch will work, and it's such a good idea, I'm doing it tomorrow. If you can't find one at the parts house, head for any car audio shop. Preferably one that does installs. They will have them for alarms, and such.

Why Go Nuts Over MP?

System response is MUCH better with win2k, and a bunch of apps running. I think I'll have a hard time going back to a single.

People w/cable modems. Dedicated line or split off tv line?

I've had cable for over a year, and have had it both ways, dedicated off the pole, then tapped off for the tv. Saw no difference at all. They put an attenuator (10db) on the modem to keep the signal from getting too hot. The tv tuner is much more forgiving than the modem about signal...

Don't quote me, but it's worth a try. There is an upgrade path from 98 to 2k, and I seem to remember a setup.exe on the cd. Once it gets started, all the options should be there to blow out the drive. I haven't tried setting it up on an old box (that wouldn't boot from cd), but the install is...

That's funny, my copy of 2K is bootable. Going through the install, I even have the choice of adding or deleting partitions, and which one I wanna install to.
