PCI graphics card

Thanks alot. I was thinking of doing some gaming, I'm not a hardcore-gamer but now and then. The i810 works suprisingly good in 640*480 and 800*600 but would like to have some more 'ooummph'. Running a Celeron 500 @500 and soon to be 190Mb RAM. Any comments on TNT2? GeForce 2MX would probably do...

PCI graphics card

Hi all, My computer has the i810E-DC100 chipset, amazingly without (!!!) AGP port. What is the best performing, most-bang-for-the-buck PCI card? How huge is the difference between AGP and PCI graphics? I've seen PCI versions of the GeForce 2MX from Creative. thanks for any tips.

Hi all, I am the 'pooruser' of a Compaq with i810E-DC100 chipset without (!!!!) AGP port. What is the best performing PCI graphics out now. I've seen GeForce 2MX cards in both AGP and PCI versions from Creative. How huge is the performance difference?

Hey, OK, working on it. Might take some time. If 100MHz FSB works... why not get a full PIII !? On the other hand, this chipset doesn't have any AGP port so no cool graphics cards here. Considering a PCI card (Geforce 2 MX) but wouldn't the PCI bus be very limiting? These forums are great...

Hi again, Thanks for the help with memory for the Compaq. Now on to another question: The Presario 5474 has an i810E-DC100 chipset. In an earlier review at Anandtech it was written that this chipset does support 100MHz FSB but it was not activated (or something). The Celeron 800 with 100MHz FSB...

Compaq & memory

Great help, thanks a lot (again). To goldboy: It need to be PC100 since the chipset i810E-DC100 uses 100MHz memorybus, but the FSB to the processor is actually only 66MHz.

So basically I am able to use standard memory ? Are there many different kind of PC100 memorys? No of pins and so on.

Compaq & memory

Need some advice on this one. I have a Compaq Presario 5474, i810E-DC100 with Celeron 500 & 64Mb RAM. Can I use any kind of standard PC-100 RAM for it or do I need to pay more $$$ for Compaq memory? Any one tried standard stuff, and which ones work? thanks Christian

what's a good BASIC compiler?

There is also VBasic 1.0 for DOS and it can compile to exe. Kind of old but... Even think I have a copy somewhere. FastBasic is another, looks very similar to QBasic and it makes exe files. Not a Basic guru.

Phhiiuu! Sounds good, I thought I've been screwed. Compaq memorys are 100% more expensive than standard ones, at least in Sweden. While on the subject (Compaq). The computer looks nice but compaq have a habit of providing an extremely crappy rescue disc which is not working properly by the way...

Did trash the Compaq resource eaters. Now running 96% from startup. It actually runs fine. But can anyone help me out. I need to have more memory, can it run with standard PC100 memory or do I have to buy expensive Compaq memory? New to the forum so excuse the strange html code on the bottom...
