Kyro II or Monitor Problem

Removing the Netgear card has solved my monitor problem. I'm not sure what conflicted with the Netgear card, but so far so good. BTW, I still haven't figured out which other NIC will not cause a conflict. Any ideas?

I think that I've fixed the problem. I had a Netgear FA311 NIC installed. I uninstalled that card and pulled it out of the slot. The monitor shutdown problem appears to be solved by uninstalling the Netgear card.

I just uninstalled the Netgear NIC and pulled it out of the slot. The monitor shutdown problem seems to be resolved. Monitor DOES NOT shut down after warm reboot (from BIOS), or after "shutdown" and "restart" in W2K. BINGO I guess the next question is, what NIC will not...

8K7A or Kyro II Problem

Funny thing, I spoke to Hercules support today by phone. They gave no hint of a known problem and tried to say the problem is with the MOBO. I wonder if their right hand knows what their left is doing? Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestions. I pulled the card and reinstalled. Same problem. I reinstalled the latest driver from Hercules, no help. I've played with the power management settings, no help. One twist though, when I have the "soft restart" problem, my off switch on my rig works only...

dfloyd, thanks ,I've tried your suggestions. No luck. Everytime I do a soft restart in W2K, my monitor powers off. Have you heard of any compatibily issues with the 8K7A and the Kyro II?

I've just put a system together with an Epox 8K7A and a Hercules 3D Prophet 4500 (and W2K Pro). Each time I go to "shutdown/restart" in W2K, my monitor goes to power saver mode and then shuts down (black screen). It's not the monitor, because I've switched out and have the same...

dfloyd, no the monitor does not come back on when the computer reboots. It stays in power saver mode. Any ideas? Thanks.:);)

I just switched out monitors, and I get the same problem using a different monitor. So it sounds like a video card problem or a MOBO. My 2d rig has built in video, so I can't switch those to see if it's the card. Any guesses on how to fix? Thanks.

I'm booting from the W2K CD, when I go to repair windows installation ("press R"), I'm asked if to repair by using recovery console or emergency repair process. I assume it's recovery console since I don't have ERD. When I get to next screen I'm asked which Windows 2000 installation...

I added no new hardware just before lock up. I've done a profile of my rig, but I'm not sure how to set up a shortcut here. If I need to start from scratch, what's the best way to do that? :)
