Cd writer done for?

I'll try some new discs later this week. Would a whole stack of CD-Rs go bad all at once? Another symptom I forgot to mention is that while the drive is thrashing around, I can't open other applications unless I lower nero.exe priority from high to normal. Another thing, if I cancel the burn...

Cd writer done for?

Lately my Lite-on drive has been unable to burn discs. The drive will spin up and then stop and then I hear a sound like the laser head is moving. This repeats itself over and over, and once in a while it will actually burn the disc, but usually it won't write any data to the disc and fails...

No multiplier higher than 12.5 on KT400?

Ahh, I see now.:o So I'll have to alter the multiplier on the cpu itself above 12.5. Well, it will do a 166 FSB so I'll push it as far as it will go for now. Thanks for the input, I should have do a little more homework on this upgrade. Cheers:beer:

myocardia: From what I understand this board supports the xp 3000 with the 333 fsb. To run at that speed it would need at least a 13X multiplier. In the bios it lists up to 18X, so is Soyo listing multipliers that just don't work? (not that it would surprise me) WA261: It is a moblie chip...

I have a Soyo KT400 dragon ultra and the board refuses to do higher than a 12.5X multiplier with my new 2400 xp mobile. The FSB is currently at 133 (I plan on going to 166), with the Vcore at 1.475 (the lowest this board will go). Is this a problem I haven't heard about yet or is it just me...

network adapter has a "#2" after it.

W2K SP4: go or no go?

The best thing to do in that case is extract the files from the archive using the /x option. In the directory you extracted the files into go into /i386/update and run update.exe. This usually solves any strange installation problems.

I just installed last night and today I noticed a lot of hitching and hesitation of the mouse pointer and cd music while downloading from the internet. The files I downloaded were also occasionaly corrupted too. I first tried reinstalling the most recent 4 in 1's, but things remained the same...

Well, got mine in the mail this morning. The card came in the original box with the power connector, manual, and several games. It was in excellent shape, and the agp pins on the card do show signs of an installation. I cleaned those off with a little alcohol since they were a little dirty...

Having a huge problem

The version of the board you are using is 1.3 or greater correct? I had a version 1.1 and heard that you could use an athlon xp in the boards even though that processor is technically not supported on versions 1.2 and lower. Before changing to the xp I had a 1 gig thunderbird in the board and...

Turning off flash in mozilla

Think I will notice much of a performance increase?

If I were you I might spend an extra 10 bucks or so and get a slightly faster processor. I wouldn't buy a new video card until next year when NV30 pushes down the prices of nvidia's current cards.

Eh, I wouldn't be so bothered about the power led. Every motherboard has something that could be considered stupid. Personally I'd rather it be a dim power led then something that would affect stabilty. One other thing that you mentioned and I forgot to respond to. I agree about the floppy...

Hehe, it's funny you brought up the led issue. I have a bright blue led which used to be blinding when plugged into my abit kt7a, but now it's almost hard to see. Apparently it didn't bother me enough to call soyo though, I just checked the connections to make sure something wasn't loose...

To anyone who has a Dragon Ultra Platinum....

I called Mushkin when I got the board to see how much this coupon would take off a stick of their ram. The woman on the phone said that off the top of her head about $20. Considering a stick of Mushkin DDR400 ram costs about $200, I don't consider this coupon too great.
