Aaargh! Eheim 1048 pump vibrates LOUD

In the mean time I have glued the impeller to the shaft. It still vibrates, but that could also be caused by too much backpressure. I am switching to 1/2" tubing this weekend, let's see what that does... Grimner, I think you are right, I bet vibrations get transmitted through the water and...

Athlon XP 2200+. How hot is too hot?

I am using the Thermalright AX-7 with a Zalman 80mm fan at 7V on my 2200+. Pretty quiet. The socket thermistor on my Gigabyte 7VRXP mobo gives me 52C idle, 60C load.

I'm tired of video card fans. I want a silent video card cooling setup.

Not sure this can be called good advice, but let's just say this is what I did. I hated that darn whiny fan as well, so I used a Zalman fanmate to lower the voltage from 12V to about 8 or 9V, just about the level that the fan stopped being obnoxious. Worked on my GF2, works on my GF4. I do not...

Looking for SILENT pump

Warcon: thx for the links...I actually am strongly considering a DC pump, also because I do NOT want to leave my pump running all the time, and hooking it up to my (400W) PSU is much easier than the relay thingy. I was also looking at a small pump by Jabsco. Bit expensive though. 4dm: I think...

Looking for SILENT pump

Without water it makes a TON of noise, like the impeller is just flappin' around in there. I can easily move the impeller from its axis, kinda like that centrifuge effect when it has too much load on one side.

Okay. So what is the likelyhood that the Eheim simply has to work too hard? I'd be willing to try a different selection of components. I have a BIX "laying around", so I could go to a 1/2"ID system with e.g. the MAZE blocks. I suppose that would be beneficial to the flow, but would it help...

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I have been able to eliminate most of the direct vibration resulting from the pump touching the case. I bought a good size sponge, and cut out the shape of the pump, and half embedded the pump in the sponge. That seemed to reduced the hum significantly. But...

So I thought I would quiet down my system by going to watercooling (using the Innovatek kit). But the vibration of the Ehaim 1048 pump makes my whole case resonate, and produces a far louder and annoying hum than I had with aircooling. I tried rubber washers, I tried mounting the pump on a bed...

Abit GF4 Ti4200: video signal interference?

Uh..no..sorry. I uninstalled the nVidia drivers, then uninstalled the GF2 from the Device Manager, shutdown, unplug, swapped cards, rebooted, installed nVidia drivers. :-)

Abit GF4 Ti4200: video signal interference?

I just swapped out my GF2 GTS for an Abit GeForce4 Ti4200, and noticed a strange "flickering" of the screen that gets worse when there is HD activity or when moving the mouse. Changing refresh rates did not make a difference. Flickering is not entirely the correct word, as the screen does not go...

Super Quiet System

The Palo Alto cases are great, but also quit small inside. I dropped about 8 degrees C or so in CPU and case temp by moving from a Palo Alto PA-600 to an Antec SX-800 (the latter is HUGE compared to the PA:)

Where to get these 2-pin fan connectors?

I want to replace the fans in my Enermax PSU by Panaflo fans, and need to put the correct connectors on the fan tails. The Enermax PSU printed circuit board has two 2-pin connectors (1 for each of the 2 fans), but these are not the "normal" 2-pin females that plug in to the jumper-like males...

Am using my AX-7 with a 1GTbird on an Asus A7V133, using a Panaflo L1A fan. CPU temps are 37 idle, 39 load. Great :-)

HD makes my Antec SX800 case hum

I have a Western Digital 1000BB in the drive cage of my Antec SX800. It seems to use the case to amplify it's vibration to quite an annoying oscillating hum. I tried adding grommets between screw and cage (not enough space to get them in between drive and cage), which helps a bit, but does not...

Panaflo L1A versus Silencer

Well...I got the Silencer fan from Directron, and was able to compare it to the Panaflo. Obviously this is all based on my personal perception. The Silencer is a hair quieter than the Panaflo, but I am quite certain the Panaflo moves more air, despite the fact that the Silencer has a higher CFM...

Panaflo L1A versus Silencer

I am planning on building a new rig with all 80mm Panaflo L1A's or with the 80mm Silencer fans. Silencer: 28CFM @ 20dBA Panaflo: 24CFM @ 21dBA Based on the specs, it seems the Silencer would be the better way to go (don't care about price differences). Can anyone confirm this from experience...

Where can I find a Silverado?

OK....why? Do you have expereince with both of them? I have no experience with Zalman, but have a Silverado. It is definitely quiet, and cools quite well. But it sure is one heavy mother.

Koolance Saga Ends Well...

Thanks for that info. I think I am first going to hold out for the performance version of the Koolance case. If for whatever reason that will not tickle my fancy, I may do a few of the mods you mentioned to my current Koolance case. I already replaced the PSU by a better cooled (pretty quiet)...

Technonut, Did you do a comparative test of the cooling results between the original Koolance mixture and you new mixture? Also, how much louder are those Delta fans compared to the stock fans....slightly, significantly etc.?

Orb style Coolers good or bad?

I bought 2 Blue Orbs a while back, thinking to replace the gfx and chipset coolers. I was quite disappointed with the Orbs. There were just as noisy, if not worse, as the stock coolers. And I was not at all impressed with the overall quality. The metal is very flimsy and bends really easy. The...

Need quiet case and cooling - no sound preferred

Agree on the Duron recommendation, it generates less heat and therefore requires less active cooling. If you go with the Duron, chances are that you would have a near completely quiet case with Koolance. (www.koolance.com). Yes, it is watercooling, but not scary at all. It is all ready to go...

Duron 950 vs 1G T-bird temperatures

Has anyone out here tried a 1G T-bird and a Duron 950 in the same mobo+case+cooling setup? I am interested in the differences in temperatures generated by these CPUs. Given that the Duron produces about 15 watts less, it should make a difference, no?

My PC with 1G Tbird on an A7V133 is inside a cabinet that does not have very good ventilation. I am not an overclocker, and I don't care if my 1G T-bird runs at 60 degrees Celcius. What I DO care about is the fact that at this temperature, my case and PSU (Enermax 451) fans go nuts. And I hate...
