I must have enabled it or installed the driver during my playing around. Is there away to turn if off? my cpu always runs at 900mhz. I also have a slotek kt8pro-939 that always shows FF on the motherboard display any idea on that?

After Upgrade, Do I Have To Re-activate XP?

Is your xp OEM or retail? They will give you a hassle on oem if you tell them. If you have only activated it once then you can activate again. After that then they will make you call.

I was successful in modifying all other users on that domain as well. Just not this one user. i thought you where renaming a computer. If its on a domain dis join it from the domain then login with the local admin accont and rename it.

Ok heres is what i would do. Does every machine have an ip address? 192.168.0.* Are the firewalls on xp turned off? if so the best way to connect to another machine is start run \\192.168.0.* that will connect you to the compuer with out doing name resolution. give it a try LMK.

Problems renaming computer using XP Pro

Where you logged on as administrator? if not then when you tried to rename it you put in the wrong username and password. Log in as administrator and you should have no problem. Unless its on a domain the you need the proper domain rights to rename it.

The reason behind standards is so everything will operate togather. To tell you the truth for my online gaming i wouldnt trust a wireless connection anyhow. Sure wireless is great but for something like gameing or file transfers i would stay hard wired.

I run my xp 1700@2200 with a geforce 4 card, tv tuner card, 1 gig of ram, 2 hard drives and 2 cdroms. And its all running on a 250 watt power supply. I think you should be ok.

Unable to access network share

By default simple file sharing is enabled in windows xp. If you disable it you will get access to your sharing and security tabs in properties. Goto tools--folder options--view. and go all the way to the bottom. Uncheck use simple file sharing. the you can create and share folders.

You know the program that lets people submit request into other departments? When the request is done it lets them know by email when its done. Well i need one that will run on linux, basicly one thats free because ours sucks and i want to try and get something new and free in here. Thanks

XP Service Pack 2

I am using sp2 rc1 and have had no problems with anything. I have used automatic updates and just tried to defrag and it all seems to work fine. Make sure your using rc1 from Microsoft and not some OTHER version you might have found some other place. A lot of those OTHER versions are stripped.
