heard that 100i can only write on DVD+RW which is much more expensive than DVD+R. HP promised to support DVD+R for the upgrade. But they took it back.
Also, it does not even plan to support DVD-R which costs about $2 on web deals.

DVD player cannot play VCD format on a burned CDR because it is a CDR. It is not about the quality. Massed produced VCDs and CD-R burned VCD are different media!
