Wrong... if you have way out of spec bios settings your computer wont even post.. the only way to fix it is jumper the cmos(flush the cmos) which resets your bios to default.. then you should be able to post and fix it
Basically here tis...
pentium 3 could mean anytime pentium 3 inluding the 512kb cache Katmai series (STAY AWAY!) these only come in the 550 and 600 flavors i think
pentium 3 "E" is any pentium 3 coppermine core (good) that runs 100mhz FSB (more overclockable)
pentium 3...
both are good technologies.. how much data transfer speed do you really need for an external device??
<< I just wanna put my finger in your belly button..... >>
I gota abit be62 pentium 3 700e at 933, gef 2 etc....blah blah
Just wondering....What do you guys think about swap files in win98se?? I've heard to make a swap file double the size of your system RAM i.e. 256 - 256 with 128mb(which is how much RAM i have)
My hookup in town can get me Micron...
Oh dont worry about gl setup.. that thing never worked right for me in fact it can mess you up!!!
Dont worry about enabling sideband it does very little if anything
DO enable fast writes this can make a diff(although not huge)
I am a quake 3 timedemo veteran ehehe
Anyway.. I wouldnt worry too much about your low res scores... who wants to play at low res with a geforce anyway?? Try the fixes these previous gentlement have suggested and see what happens but your higher res fps are very playable and ok
the 1.17 is the...
your choices are limitless... This is a GREAT time to build a pc!!... if you have up to 400 to spend i would just get a good Athlon cpu/mobo combo like a 1.2ghz or higher an slap in 256megs of RAM (SDR or DDR) depending on what mobo you get... i would get a mobo that uses the AMD 760 chipset...
I dunno for sure.. I've heard that a high fsb can corrupt data.. I had a HD die that was only a year old (maxtor 8.4gig) that had been running on a pci bus if around 40mhz.. It REALLY died in that the inside of it broke.. all i got was clicking noises when i tried to boot
I have a pentium3 700 at 933 and hercules gts 64meg abit mobo etc
Anyway, my computer works great with dx7 and any multitude of drivers...if i upgrade to dx8.. open gl apps work fine but anything direct 3d and I get weird flashing horizontal lines accross the screen that look like weird...

i have cas 3 micron pc133 and my system is quite fast.. Firingsquad.com has done some benchmarking to compare those rams and if i remember correctly there was a small diff but nothing to write home about... around 2-3% at best..
its easy as long as you use common sense and be careful
simply unsnap the slot 1 retention clamps(if there are any) and just pull the processor/heat sink straight out of the motherboard.. this may require some force but dont get nervous..
its just basically a snap/in/out type thing..
see my SUCCESS IN OVERCLOCKING post.. my 700e is at 933 at 1.85 volts.. 1.8 would run 933 but have occasional freezes... 1.85 is very stable.. i also bumped my I/O volt to 3.7
Anyone seen those crazy Japanese dudes that submerge their mobo/proc in Liquid Nitrogen??
They got a 1.7ghz pent 4 to run at 2.8ghz!!!..I dont think it ran very long...
I thought it was BS but apparently LN2 is not conductive so you can get away with submerging your mobo in it..
Sorry i...
Well i've had my pentium 3 700e at 840mhz for quite some time.. I bought it almost 16months ago when the pent 3 933 and 1ghz were da sheeat....the 700 was much cheaper so i got it with an abit mobo for overclocking
Never could get it stable over 840 and plus at that speed i was overclocking my...
