Firefox, or any recent Mozilla-based browser. In my experience, a lot more complete CSS2 and DOM2 javascript support. In fact, in this respect Mozilla browsers are even far beyond IE.

Questions on upcoming AMD 64FX CPUs...

Just a thing to consider; the Socket-940 might have a long-term upgrade path as it's possible to use 100-series (ie. a single-processor model) Opterons on a Socket-940 Athlon/FX motherboard. And the Opteron's not going to have a change in the form factor anytime soon.

Cross Platform Programming Language with GUI interface...?

Java + Swing is the way to go. Java is fully platform-independent, and the fully-featured GUI-building package Swing has been a standard part of it since v1.3.1. With Swing you can even make the GUI look almost identical on all platforms (using the default platform-independent look&feel).

Help me kick this hardrive's ass

You should get a new hard drive, install OS on that drive and then connect the IBM onto the system as a slave. Just because the drive's not bootable doesn't mean the data can't be read at all. It may just have certain crucial boot related sectors gone bad.

Stop bashing Radeon's "fake" Anisotropic Filtering

NEW Maxtor D740X 20GB making alot OF NOISE

The D740x isn't the quietest of drives, mine makes clearly audible clicks over case fans when seeking heavily. But assuming the drive's OK, the idle noise levels should be very low. It sounds like your new drive is having a bearing problem, I've heard of quite a few cases where D740x drives...

**ATTENTION 3DFX USERS**

Nvidia has drivers out that allow their TNT2 to run with Windows XP, that card is something like 4-5 years old which is an eternity in the PC world. TNT2 was released in H1/1999, so that would only make it roughly 3 years old. Still, that's an eternity in PC world ;)

I don't want to loose faith in AMD!

Are you sure that setting FSB to 266MHz doesn't raise the PCI (33MHz) and AGP (66MHz) clocks out-of-spec? If for some reason or another the BIOS doesn't change the dividers as you up the clock, the system would be extremely unstable.

Hammer = the end of the overclock?

While Hammer won't have a FSB in the traditional sense, not being an asynchronous piece of silicon, it still needs a system clock. And this is most definitely provided by a clock generator on the motherboard. That naturally means that overclocking is possible ;)

My NEW PC...Despite the anticipated criticism...I AM VERY SATISFIED ;)

A Celeron Tualatin 1.0A GHz can run w/o a fan, this chip is cooler than the ambient with just a heatsink So this thing magically dissipates a negative amount of heat? Amazing, gotta get me a couple of 1GHz Tualatin cellys for those hot Finnish summer nights :P
