What is this QoS Packet Schedular in XP?

I have a v.92 56k modem on my Dell Inspiron 4100 and it could possible be a winmodem, but what's this QoS Packet Schedular in XP when I look in Networking part of the properties of my connection? The reason I'm asking is that I get disconnected seemingly randomly from my dial up account...

Well, I went out and got when you recommended but now am I SOL?

it is very strange huh? well anyways, the solution was to re-enable autoplay.... I guess you need that to recognize that it's a dvd disk when you insert it.

Is there a player for .rm files?

Has anyone successfully tried this? I'm busy getting ready for finals so I won't be able to test it out until 2 weeks from now at the earliest. Planning on using the school's lab because they reimage the hard drive daily :)

hey psszzzt....You, yea you there with the laptop. I got a question for you.

Cheaper? hmmm....you've got 2 hard drives and one on the side. I would like not to buy another hard drive if I can prevent it. Possibly faster and simplier though. Thanks for the idea...something to consider since I like the idea of swapping hard drives to give one a break.

This is an interesting idea indeed, which I first tried because I thought it was achievable. Maybe I was doing it correctly but I'll retry. I've actually partitioned my hard drive into two partitions, a 6gig (OS resides on this) and 4gig where I put all my files. Are you guys using Ghost 2002...

Let me see if I'm understanding this correctly. Boot up Windows 98 regularly and then launch Ghost within Win98 environment? BTW, I apologize if I didn't make myself clear. I do not have access to a network where I can upload an image :( I'm running XP as well.

I too assumed this because they would probably advertise that it supports USB2 if it was a feature. Still curious about the firewire via pcmcia card burner and whether Ghost will be able to write an image to it.

This is indeed possible and I've done this on a network before. But the only computer I have is my laptop :) Trying to eliminate as much clutter as possible and live simply, but of course I can't live without computers! :D

I'm not sure my dell inspiron 4100 supports USB2....and a relevant topic, is firewire via pcmcia card combo bootable off DOS? I'm curious because I'd like to get Norton Ghost or some imaging software but they don't support USB burners.

I have a USB external burner made by Pacific Digital but the drive and probably the whole unit is made by Mitsumi. The drive is identified as a Mitsumi on the outside casing. Well, I got curious and opened up the external case only to find that it is exactly what the other label...

Well, it's my impression from your title that you're starting a fresh install. If so, just fdisk the hard drive and remove the partitions. If yo're wanting to mear the two partitions, I can only suggest using Partition magic, which I've never used before :) Maybe someone who's done this would...

Is there a player for .rm files?

I've been looking at this website for some time and it's my understanding that .rm files are played using RealMedia Player. But that thing is god awful and I would never install it. Is there another program that will play .rm files? Thought I post this before I hit the hay :) 6am PST.

BuckleDownBen, good suggestion. I think I'll do that as a primary source. As others have pointed out the limitations of win2k, looks like we'll be getting a dual cpu system, no larger. ahsia, nice! I'll recommend those to him if he doesn't opt for the Dell way. BTW, I won't be building it...

though he said "cost is not a barrier," I think we can presume that it should be "reasonable barrier" :) He's not as hardware profecient as many of you so this would have to be a "set it and forget it" system, more or less. I too was thinking SCSI but I've always ran IDE due to budget...

Can I install Norton SW 2K2 Pro over NAV 2002?

I'd recommend you UNINSTALL the program as oppose to just deleting the directory. But you probably meant that when you said "delete." Just making sure :)

Are you serious? This is very odd since I have always deleted partitions, both FAT and NTFS, via a win98 boot disk. Consider removing the drive and putting it in another computer to reformat partitions with FAT then boot off of win98 boot disk and remove partitions. This is the assumption...

PQ DriveImage 2002 Useless to Me :(

I've been thinking about this for some time but in my situation, I have a laptop, and only a laptop. I checked a few months ago and confirmed that ghost doesn't support usb since my burner is usb. Have you guys found a way around this? One hard drive, one usb burner. Or am I stuck?
