It should work, even with your non hdcp monitor. For cheaper alternatives, check ebay for hd a2 players, should be had for less than 50 bucks, a little more with shipping.

This component is for an htpc. htpc's are expensive and not meant to be a replacement of standalone boxes. There are better and cheaper standalone alternatives that are easier to use. This is only useful if you plan on archiving your hddvd collection.

finally got it today. fedex sure took its sweet as$ time with it. Working perfectly, vista 32bit, pdvd 8 with hddvd "patch". Ill try anydvd tomorow. Got this drive so I can archive off my hddvd collection onto the htpc, and never have to deal with my slow as dirt a1 player EVER again...

i bought my plasma for 2400 dollars 3 years ago. The warranty plan to cover that period was around 400-500. Considering you can get a better 42in plasma for around 899, my likely replacement cost for a used set is around 600. If you think an extended warranty is worth it, absolutely get one.

wow, you're right. If you want the replacement bulb coverage on your plasma, you should absolutely get the extended warranty. Just be careful if they try and sell you the gas replacement plan, you dont want to fall for any sucker schemes like that.
