Quick VPN issue...

Hi All, heres the deal: My boss wants to VPN in from home to his desktop computers at the office. His configuration is the prob I believe, his pc has two NICs, he wants to be VPN'd in on one and have internet connectivity on the other. is that even possible? He is on w2k at home, using a NAT...

linksys wusb11 v2.5 anyone?

greetings all. i have my main box and my spare pc (both XP Pro.) joined by the two linksys wireless lan adapters. it took two days of troubleshooting to get them to work and then the only way was to use netbeui. so icould share files, network print, etc.. and the connection was/is quite fast...

cant see hard drive?

hey all, i have a friend who is trying to put in a new hdd, she has one maxtor (new) and one WD (old) the problem is, after installing xp to the new hdd the pc runs fine, but when you hook up the other old hdd the pc will not boot, both are jumpered right (new = master, old = slave). any ideas...

My girlfriends EX hates my choice of AMD 1800 +. What do you think?

hey man, who cares what the old b/f says, he would say anything to put down the current guy. anyhow i have an xp 1800+ o/c'd to be a 2000+ and have NO TROUBLE at all, i dont even remeber the last time i turned it off for anything. an intel 1.8 doesnt even compare.

What Is the Temp Of Your XP Chips????

i run my XP 1800+ at 46 C idle and up to about 50 - 51 C under load, i do have it o/c'd to be an XP 2000+ though.

bought a XP1500+, only showing up at 1GIG

im not sure on that mobo but there may be a jumper to change clock settings, also i dont think you should try to adjust this to its true running speed of 1.33 GHz by using the fsb. You need to find a way to set your clock to 10 (10 x 133 = 1.33 GHz). If the mobo isnt able to be changed its...

bought a XP1500+, only showing up at 1GIG

if you are able to change the clock, 11(clock) times 133(fsb) = 1463 MHz, hope this helps.... ;)

cdrw dvd-ROM combo drives?

i bought the hp 9900i when it came out, it is a 12x4x8x32 drive and i am very happy with it, no probs whatsoever (knock on wood) anyway it was quite expensive when it came out but i got a really good deal on it i couldnt turn down. this was 9 months or so ago so it may be quite reasonable now.:)

What is the best heatsink for a 1800xp to overclock

i have my xp 1800+ oc'd to 1679 MHz (xp 2000+) using a dynatron solid copper hsf, they are $18 bucks at newegg with a loud a$$ delta 7,000 rpm fan. temps stay at 46 C on average. the fan is bearable but you have to get used to it.

taking a vote on "why?"

back to fan spinning issue, there were a couple of times that i could hear the 80mm fans (enermax) that are quite new going lub, lub, lub... when the system restarted, like they werent getting enough power to spin. what do you think?

thanks for the replies both of you! anyway, i get full on shutdowns, i do have my mobo set to restart after power failure, so it restarts. i run diskeeper 7 so all 4 drives are in great shape. any other ideas or is it looking more like the p/s?

Hey All! My sys specs are in my sig. but i have random shutdowns happening once or twice a day. I think i have it narrowed down to either power supply or my motherboard. Anyway, what do you think? I can be just watching TV on it or being idle whatever and it will shut down. temps...

building first raid pc and need help....

you guys are great. thanks alot! okay so if i understand this correctly... (this is a brand new set up) i hook both hdds to my raid 1 on the mobo. nothing but my cd-rom & dvd ram drive go to ide 1 & 2 on the mobo. am i heading in the right direction? i'm not concerned about losing any data.

Thanks!! i will try that. im not sure if raid 1 is the same as mirror or not. all i want to do is mirror my primary to my raid drive (i have 2 40gb. drives.) is that the right way for this??

hey all, i'm building a new raid pc and have a question. where do the cables hook up for the mirrored drive? i have an epox 8k7a raid mobo., but when i go into bios (ctrl + h) to set raid up it can only find one drive. do both drives need to be hooked up to raid or ?. right now i have one...

XP Built in Defragger

i used the win xp built in defragger and a week after that ended up getting diskeeper7. after installing diskeeper 7 i did the "analyze" and it said i was heavily fragmented (52%) so i went ahead with the defrag. i had hardly done anything on the pc (besides games) in between using the...

Lite-On cdrw problem.

i still am not sure what the heck is up with these drives, i have installed 3 of them, gotten all 3 of them to work (in the past 6 weeks) but they have all given quite a bit of trouble from the start. like i said they end up working if you play with them enough but i dont think i will be buying...

Hey all, i just got the new dvd-ram drive in from justdeals.com. i did get a "just deal" on it as it comes with no burning software. what is everyone else using? i have nero 5.5.4.0 that says it is capable but i need your opinions. i will be using this for network back-up. any ideas??? THANKS!

cd burning problem

Help PLEASE!

her laptop just shut down in the middle working away, went to boot back up and gets to where she can choose safe mode, last good config, etc.. and after choosing gets a black screen -nothing- and no hdd lights at all.

My co-workers hdd on her laptop just died completly. she is on win xp with an ntfs file system. what can i boot to to get a command prompt to pull off a very needed power-point presentation???? any ideas? thanks a million!

sorry to hear about that but its not AMD that is doing it. that board is truly a piece of crap. i purchased three of them for some upgrades at work and sent all three back. i cant believe that anyone would even sell that thing anymore. keep your chip and get abit or msi or something. good...

Needs to keep CPU cool....

i think you could probably shed 15 degrees fahrenheit by installing a couple of 80mm fans. check out www.newegg.com for some nice choices. personally the enermax ones with adjustable speed kicks butt.:)

Best mobo for overclocking an Athlon 1800??

i dont know about the absolute best but i've had good luck getting my xp 1800 (1.53) up to 1680 just by o'cing the fsb on a dragon plus to 146. seems very fast and stable.;)

i'm running the same temps you are and i did o/c. your temps are actually fine. if you want you could get a better hsf. btw what is the ambient temp? (in the case).

Retail Xp temperature

i'm using a volcano 7 on a athlon xp 1800+ mildly o/c'd to be a 1900+, i have three case fans (2 at 2000 rpms and 1 antec standard, all 80mm) and my temps are 120f under load (a few hours of max payne) and 106f while idle.

Is the Antec PP303XP PS AMD approved?

you can see my system in my sig. but i have an xp 1800+ running on an antec 300w p/s just fine. i wouldnt say its "more" than enough but seems to be plenty.

KT266/KT266A chipsets 15C cooler!

i also tried that the other night with a soyo dragon plus, i was able to make the first adjustment to bit 1 but when trying to adjust bit 7 i got a total lock up, i think just adding case fans is the best idea.;)

How to repair associations in 2K?

try using folder options in the control panel, there is a button under file types that allows you to cange a file association or change back to default. hope that helps.

hold down the insert key while booting up (this will bypass foc) then disable foc in bios.
