I have a Geforce 2 GTS and my friend has a Radeon DDR. We have benchmarked our machines in just about everything. We both ensure that we always have the latest drivers. His radeon is faster in some games and my geforce is faster in others. It seems to depend on how much the game or benchmark...

Go for the GTS. It leaves the MX in the dust once you get up to higher resolutions (1024x768x32)

How well should a G400 scale with a P3 1Ghz proc?

It all depends what resolution and colour depth you're running the games at. If you run everything at 640x480 in 16-bit colour you are relying on you CPU far more than if you were to run at 1024x768 in 32-bit colour.

I have the mouse plugged into the USB port. I think I've got the USB to PS/2 converter that came with the mouse lying around somewhere. I've always had the mouse plugged into USB though.

Connecting VCR to computer

Have you tried hooking your VCR up to an amp and then going from the amp into your sound card. That way you'll be able to adjust your volume.

The Geforce 2 MX is probably your best bet. The TNT2 Ultra is fine for 16-bit but the performance suffers in 32-bit colour. The memory on the Geforce MX is the biggest problem. The DDR is only 64-bit not the 128-bit stuff you get on the Geforce 2 GTS and higher. See if you can find a Geforce...

RAM Memory - Bus speeds

You shouldn't have any problems running PC133 memory at 100MHz. You might want to set you memory timing in the CMOS setup to Auto or SPD (Serial Presence Detect).

My Maxtor 45 HD is making a clicking sound & won't boot. Is it fatal?

Whatever you do don't open the drive if it's under warranty. It's unlikely that you'll be able to fix anything inside anyway and your warranty will be history. Are your tunes really worth the risk :(

Try changing your Spool Data Format. If you go to the properties of the printer, then to the Spool Settings on the Details tab you can try RAW or EMF. This has sorted out similar problems for me in the past although not on your particular printer.

Does CoolBits work with the new Det drivers?

Win 98SE/Defrag problem

Check to see if you have Fast find in your control panel. It's normally installed with MS Office. If you do, disable it and then run your defrag. Fast find is supposed to speed up access to your files by creating indexes. Unfortunately it creates them during defrag causing it to restart.

The problem could be that your graphics card is overheating rather than your CPU. Is your Voodoo overclocked? If so have you tried running it at its default speed.

Installed ATA/Pci card and no power up

First of all, have you tried the card in another PC to check that its not faulty. Secondly, the extra card in your system may be drawing to much power. You might have to upgrade you power supply to get it to work.

Has anyone had any luck enabling the frequency adjustments tab with the new Detonator 12.41 drivers. I've added the Coolbits = 3 Dword to the NVTweak key but the tab doesn't appear.
