Last night's deal

So I've been looking to replace my 2011 Macbook Air 11" for a few months. I finally pulled the trigger last night and ended up getting an even better deal than I thought. Best Buy offered me $247 for my trade in. Not great, but convenient. I also had a 10% off coupon for a Surface Pro 4...

ATT raising grandfathered unlimited data by $5

Bringing this topic back. I'm under contract until April 2017 (since they subsidized my Note 4). If I say no to the upcharge and terminate, will I be able to unlock my phone? I know the ETF will be waived. Anyone have an idea?

Thanks, but between my grandfathered unlimited data & corp discount, my bill is less than $70/month all in, so with that and the coverage in my areas, I am sticking with AT&T. Jeff

Thanks all. Obviously, I was leaning towards the Note 4 based on my current Note 2. I am going to go with the Note 4, but wait until CES to see what is announced & see if the price is lowered (I doubt it but need to see, since there are no deals now). Jeff

Do you guys do most of your reading on a smartphone?

I browse the web when I travel on my Note 2 but reading (like when I'm on a plane) is on a table. Had a 1st gen Nexus 7 and replaced that with a Venue 8 Pro. I much prefer to read for longer periods on the table. Plus I can 1-hand that.

CNN Money names T-Mobile as Tech Company of the year; Investors not happy

I STRONGLY disagree. This is another example of the "we'll make it up on volume" that nearly destroyed the auto supply base. Many investors do tend to be short term thinkers. But a company still needs a profitable strategy, not just grow share. Market share != profit Jeff

My note 2 screen is out of control, help

I was talking to ATT tech support a few weeks ago re: upgrades and the sr tech (not level 1 worthlessness) mentioned there were issues with the 4.3 upgrade on Note 2's (I have one too). He suggested waiting for 4.4 to be released vs going to 4.3. Just fyi. I also suggested factory reset.

All- Thanks for the good suggestions. Letcme clarify a few points. Laptop vs tablet - the flight attendent gets to make that call. Laptops have to be stored under the seat or in an overhead. Tablets and e readers can be heldvin you lap or the seat pocket. I only want to bring 1...

I have a 2012 Nexus 7 (wifi only) for the home. I don't think it will multitask well. My understanding is Win8.1 / RT can have 2 windows side by side. On a 10" tablet, that may be ideal. I don't think that would work on a 7". maybe an 8" though. Jeff

Will Surface pro be able to run Wow or Sc2? (Playable)

Why not just get a Macbook air? I have an 11" one that will play WoW. To me, it's just a portable as a tablet and much more usable. Jeff

I'm sticking w/ ATT because I have unlimited data with them still. That's the only reason I'm with them. Plus, my corporate discount is 10%, so that helps on the pricing side. I'm a very skilled lurker. :) Jeff

Note 2 vs Nexus 4

Thanks for the quick replies! I double checked, and the note 2 is 4.1. Supposed to be upgraded to 4.2 first quarter. Maybe. I'm already 2 GM +/- per month, between streaming music, DL's, and web content. Straighttalk is an option, but I will need more than 2 GB. Jeff

I have VIOP and use Linksys router. I also have a d-link wireless router that I would like to hook up. Can I just connect to the wireless router to the linksys? Will there be any settings I'll have to change? Or are you not about the daisy chain routers? Do I have to get a wireless access...

Check out some car detailing sites. Some good brands are Stoners and Eagle One. The only thing make sure you get a glass cleaner, not a polish. Polishing your monitor doesn't bear thinking about. Oh, and check if there is an anti-glare coating, as a most things other than water will remove...
