Isn't the idea behind Distributed Computing to use the idle time on our computers to do some work toward a greater, larger goal. You can set up the client to run in the background and just forget about it, right. It's supposed to be as unobtrusive as possible. Your computer shouldn't slow down...
about $450 for CPU, MB, and memory from NewEgg. I kind of wish I had done this instead of my 2500 --> 3200 Barton with DFI LP IIB. I am only getting 12 WU's a day out of her.

My Dual processor 1.25ghz G4's with 2 gigs of ram running OS 10.2.8 run the Seti Client in classic mode with about 4 WU's/day. Not that great. But it all adds up. I haven't found any alternatives to the GUI client running in classic.
Is it possible to run SETI on a computer that isn't connected to the internet by using one that is to download the WU's to be processed, copy over to the other machine, let it cruch, copy the results back over to the connected machine and dump them?
I get about 200 WU's a day out of my newest creation:

I don't have my manual handy, but if you leave all the dip switches to off (auto mode) it will automatically set to what your processor is set for. For 1400 -- 1400/133 = 10.5 multiplier. Now that I think about it, to override the auto setting I think that switches 1 and 5 on is 10.5. I was just...
