There is a big difference between 480i and 480p. But you seem to think that you HAVE to get a progressive scan DVD player to view a progressive, 480p image on an HDTV. Most TVs have built in deinterlacers that will convert a 480i signal to 480p. A cheap progressive scan player usually looks...
If you are more the build it and forget it type or if you won't upgrade for awhile, I'd get the 3000+. If you like tweaking every your system for every last bit of performance and upgrade every year or two, get the mobile.
If you overclock the mobile to around 2.5GHz at 1.75v or less, with...
If you were getting error messages in Prime95, you were not running smooth. If Prime fails, eventually something will cause your system to crash. Looks like it finally happened and the OS possibly became corrupted. It's unlikely that your hard drive was physically damaged but there could be...
The fins on the SLK947 and SP97 are supposed to run vertical on the NF7-S. You can't mount it properly the other way. It's almost impossible to mount it wrong.
The blue Zalman heatsink should fit with the SLK947. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the SLK947 have the same clearance...
Might be temperature realated. I bought a SLK3700-BQE recently and I think it's a really nice case, but it runs much hotter than my previous case. After I put my system in it and replaced the PSU with an Antec True Power 480 I noticed the temps shot way up and my overclock suffered.
I finally...
I installed the blue Zalman ZM-NB47J on my NF7-S this weekend with no problem. I'm using the SP-97 heatsink and it was a tight fit but it fit just fine. The corner of the Zalman heatsink will barely touch the bottom of the SP-97 but it doesn't interfere at all.
My Sunbeam Rheobus can be hidden behind the door of my Antec SLK3700-BQE. One nice suprise is that the case door totally blocks all light from bright Sunbeam LEDs. That is very cool, my Antec SX1030 SOHO case door lets light leak through all over the place.
Wow, I feel like I'm in the minority with a 3.0/384 DSL connection from Bellsouth. I get great consistent speeds and uptime. I just got upgraded from 1.5/256 a couple of weeks ago, the speed increase is definitely nice.
Thanks for this post. $9 for 3 years is cheap enough for me. I used to read this back in college when my roomate had a subscription. I kind of missed reading them but I was to cheap to subscribe. :D
You can get the buy.com 10% coupon here: http://www.techbargains.com/coupons.cfm
It says you had to receive the coupon through email, I didn't get the email but it worked for me. My 9800 Pro was delivered today. $204 total with no rebates to deal with. Beats newegg by $20.
I'd also go for the 9800 pro. I ordered one 2 days ago. You can get a retail built by ATI card from buy.com for ~$202 total if you can use the 10% off coupon that is out there right now.
I'm upgrading from a Geforce4 Ti4200 128MB card. My system is a Athlon XP2700 with 768MB of PC2700.
Ahh, I had one of those. A 19" XJ810 I think, it came in an model 800V box. It was weird but same specs and the XJ810 cost more. It died about 3 months after the warranty was up. I think one of the guns in the tube failed and everything turned green.
I just bought a new 19" Sony...
I noticed the problem with games not detecting the CPU correctly. Battlefield 1942 detects my 2100+ overclocked to 2700+ as running at -2172MHz and says it doesn't meet the minimum requirements. I guess I should just ignore it cause it seems like a problem with their software. The game will...
After 3 trips to my Circuit City which is NOT in a convenient location, I gave up. The manager tried calling the rebate center last night but it was too late and nobody answered. Went during my lunch break today and he called and got the deal that it was a mistake and will not be honored. He...
Got mine for in store pickup in Montgomery, AL. This deal is unbelievable! I need to stay out of this forum. I just got a 200GB WD SE last week. Now I'll be up to a total of 410GB in my system :D
The label on the bottom of the mouse tells you. If it just says Intellimouse Explorer then it's an original 1.0 version. The 3.0's at least say Intellimouse Explorer 3.0a on the bottom.
I just got a confirmation yesterday that said they shipped me a new Explorer 3.0a.
200GB Western Digital JB 7200rpm 8MB Cache - ~3GB used (Brand New)
60GB Maxtor D740X 7200rpm 2MB Cache - almost full, maybe 4-5GB free
27.2GB Maxtor 7200rpm 2MB Cache - Full, used for storage now, will be Linux drive soon.
I had a dead original Intellimouse Explorer laying around that has been dead for about 6 months. Never realized it was still under warranty and could be replaced. This is a great thread. Thanks for the tip. I guess I'll be getting a new Intellimouse Explorer 3.0.....not bad :)
Did your order ship from Fry's? I just placed an order for this drive today and the order status page says "Back Ordered". The site still lists the drive as shipping "Same Day"......yeah right. I feel like I'm about to get screwed by Fry's Outpost or I'll have to cancel my order.
I hate when...
I'm not sure exactly what the difference is. I think or the G420 may be an older model or sold in other countries??
I have the G420S and it is all that is available in the US. It has dual inputs on the back. It only says G420 on the front but it says G420S on the label in the back.
You'll get alot of different opinions. I love my Sony G420S.
Some of the better brands to look at are Sony, NEC/Mitsubishi, Samsung, Viewsonic.
I prefer the first two.
I honestly can't tell a difference in 2D image quality between a G450 Dualhead that I'm using right now at work, and my Leadtek Ti4200 I have at home. I think it is cause of the monitors though. My monitor at home is a Sony G420S 19" and at work I have a 17" Dell P793 with a Diamondtron tube...
Try adjusting the Convergence on the monitor if you have that option. I had a monitor suddenly have fuzzy text that looked horrible. It took me awhile but I finally tweaked the convergence settings and it fixed it 100%.
Looks like there is a new Rebate for the Cordless Elite Duo. Now it's a $20 rebate till June 30th. Amazon has the form on their site. Looks like a good deal. It doesn't say anything on the form about buying from amazon, just that it is NOT valid from Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal Mart, etc...
I would consider an NEC/Mitsubishi also. The NEC/MITSUBISHI FE991SB from dell is $223 and I've heard good things about it. Haven't actually seen on though. My 3 year old 19" died this past Friday and I'm waiting on my new Sony G420S I ordred from Dell. I have seen the Sony and it is nice...
Part of it is based on how much physical RAM you have installed. Since by default XP makes a page file which is (I think) twice the size of your installed RAM. It also enables hibernation by default which creates a hibernation file equal to your amount of RAM. So if you have 512MB of RAM...

And those without Asus A7V133 can't really compare their temps because the A7V133 is known to report high temperatures compared to other Mobos.
My A7V133 with copper gladiator reports 47C idle (ambient temp 30C) and runs 56-57C under load. With the retail HS/F the temps were 55C idle and...
I was thinking of doing the same thing on my Antec SX1030. Anything special I should know and where should I get the blue LED? Should Radio Shack have it?
Do NOT get a Creative drive. They are terrible. Won't last more than a few months at the most. I'd guess the Teac would be most reliable but I don't know about DAE.
Personally I'd just get a Toshiba or Pioneer DVD drive for $50-$60.
I have had a BX6 rev 2.0 for over 2 years now running flawlessly with a PIII 450 until today. I think the board is fried. It shut off at some time during the day and didn't do anything when I hit the power to turn it back on. So I cleared the CMOS and that got it power again but it does...
Where'd you get your 1030 from? I should get mine from egghead today. I got the beige model but the description on thier site wasn't much. I hope it's in retail packaging.
