You guys are killing me with these Fry's deals. Being in Cleveland, I can't get close to these deals. The closest thing we have to a Fry's is MicroCenter and I think you guys know the deal there. If there's a way I can buy this stuff online, please let me know. I wish Outpost.com would...
I bought it yesterday at CompUSA for $100 - $20 rebate = $80. I see nothing on the box about Smart-Burn technology, but it does have Buffer Under Run Technology. It came with Nero 5.5.5.2 and seems to be an excellent drive. I've burned several close-to-full discs (630mb) in under 5 minutes...
Every once in a while, a message or filename listed in a BSOD can point to what the problem is. I would suggest disabling the Auto-Reboot "feature" and see what you can find out in the BSOD. You can do this by right-clicking My Computer>Properties>Advanced Tab>Startup and...
OOS in Cleveland, OH area.
In regards to Mawg's problem w/Easy CD Creator 4.02 in XP, there's supposed to be a patch via Windows Update according to PC World mag. If that doesn't work, I've heard that the newest version of Nero (5.5.5.1?) works.
Check into Citrix MetaFrame XP for Windows 2000 server. You can format those old PCs with DOS, then install the Citrix ICA client. When clients boot their PC, it connects to the server and uses Win2000. It's considerably faster and great for remote management. I have this running at the...

I have a small business client that connects to the internet via dial-up w/Proxy server 2.0 on Windows 2000 Server. When a client w/Win2000 goes into Internet Explorer the server hangs up and redials the connection! Can't figure out what the hell is causing this. Any ideas?
Ran into this with Windows 95 once and ended up reloading the PC. I would suggest backing up anything you need and reloading. Although you might want to try sticking another network card in and see how that works. Chances are your drive is hosed.
It's called Startup Control Panel and you can get it off of CNET's site here. After you install it, go to the Control Panel and you'll see an icon that says Startup. It's a great utility for NT/2000.
Strange that WinXP setup doesn't allow you to delete the partition, then recreate it. Try using a Win98 boot disk and running FDISK to remove the old partition, then create a new partition. After doing that, boot to the CD.
