According to ECS, "the integrated WiFiTM -compliant wireless LAN available as configurable option, 802.11b:11Mbps or 802.11g:54Mbps". So the laptop has 4 USB 2.0 connections, 1Gb NIC and 802.11g !!
I've just bought it guys. Can't beat the price, I added 90 bucks for 2-year extended guarantee. The integrated wireless LAN is nice. Wondering if one can buy one of those AMD mobiles 2400+ and upgrade it. For web surfing and MS Office work that's all I need.
I have burned over 250 DVD-R's, ALL Princo and not a single problem !! The oldest ones are about 1-year old and still play well in all of my 3 DVD players. Why spend more money for some "higher" quality disks ?
I looked into this service but so far I'm still hesitating to sign up for several reasons:
1/I'm running a FTP server and what would happen to the voice quality under relatively heavy traffic ?
2/How about voice quality when I download some large files ?
3/I probably have to switch to cordless...
I went for the 1800+. 12 bucks is nothing. The 15 multiplier and overclocking with PC2100 are the major plusses. You'll need very good memory to o/c the 1600+ and the 1700+. Unless you already have a good mobo and PC2700 memory.
I still have the PC2100 memory so the t-bred 1800+ is the better option for me. It's unlocked and the multiplier can get as high as 15 so you can run 15x133=1995 MHz. The 512 MB PC2700 would cost more than the CPU!
Don't let the $179 list price fool you. It will be $99.99 at the check-out. Ask the guy to double check the price for you on the phone before you go there. I've just bought one @ $99.99
Well, so far it plays all my VCDs, home made SVCDs, DVDs. There's a good thread at FW on this subject Considering a DVD-drive costs about $40 already this is a no brainer :)
It's baloney, the sounds of the case fan and CPU's fan mask the HD's sound anyway. I have an IBM and an Seagate in my system, all 7200 rpm, can't hear any HD noise, just fan noise.
Thanks for the infos guys. One additional question: with any of those cards(7500, 8500, 8500DV) can we capture mpeg-2 in real time for SVCD burn directly without the conversion step. I heard MMC 7.7 and the new Catalyst drivers correct the compatibility problem with Nero.
Other than the gaming performance and the Firewire input, is it true that the multimedia features (video encoding, TV tuner etc.) of the 7500 are the same as the 8500DV ?
The earlier production supported VCD, not the recent ones. Amazon's ad states SVCD and not VCD for a reason. If you check nerd-out.com you'll see Apex recently pulls out all support for VCD for all models. Don't know why, may be law suit problem. I'd love to get the AD-800 if it reads VCD.
Hi Herr Yunta, mine won't be delivered until later today. Sounds good, does it support 128-bit right off the bat or did you have to flash the new firmware ? Where did you get the XP drivers or are you using the win2k one ? Thanks in advance.
The point is wireless security is so fragile and you'll need all the protection you can get. The DHCP is only a stop-gap measure, without it, the router would assign right away an IP to the intruder (and he'll be part of the network) once he has cleared the MAC and the encryption. It's scary...
I don't mess with security: MAC + 128-bit encryption + non-DHCP + router hard password
Too much damage if some weirdo gets access to your online banking account or drops a virus on your hard drive IMHO.
I bought the same gears as yours, DI-711 and the Dell Truemobile. I don't have the DI-704 but the old Linksys 4-port wired router. I switched over to the wireless and the whole system is working real well. I found that I had to set one PC of the wired network to an address 192.168.0.x to...
WarFTP and dns2go work well with dynamic IP. I'm using this combo right now. Warftp does not require IP address for setup.
To access the server, for example by http, type:
ftp://<username>:<Password>@xxx.dns2go.com/
xxx is the name registered with dns2go. If you have a router then you must...
<< I just upgraded to a LiteOn 24/10/40 CDRW, and it came bundled with the latest Nero. The software included to manage CDRW's spit me a message saying it wouldn't work in WinXP. What do you guys use to manage CDRW's? >>
Go here to download Incd 3.17, it works with XP
