Need help designing a network

Have you done a search at Google or Yahoo for network design? Other then that, what kind of network do you have to design? How many computers? Is there a server, or is it only Peer-to-Peer? Wired or wireless? Lots of things to consider! Navy

Have I done a good job as webmaster?

Looks good. Loads pretty good from the Indian Ocean on board the USS Abraham Lincoln. The Market Place page has nothing come up. Other then that, everything looked good. Navy-Linux

Western digital harddrives??

Thermaltake Golden Orb Probs

I will have to look at that when I take this bad one off. I may have to get some emory paper and sand the new one if it is not flat. I will put a straight edge on it to make sure it is flat. Anyone else having problems with this hsf?

A7V: BIOS Update HOSED!!! HELP!!

Did the flash utility tell you the flash was done successfully? Did you back up the old bios before you flashed the new one? If you get no screen to be able to boot to a floppy from, you are done. You can call asus and they will sell you a new cmos chip. Not sure how much they are though...

Is it possible for a bad CPU to burn out two motherboards??

How do I find out if NetZero is v.92 compliant?

The new standard modem should be compatable with the v.90 standard. Just like the V.90 standard was compatable with the X2 and K56Flex standards. V.90 was supposed to be the best of both X2 and K56Flex.

How to Terminate Cat5 cable with RJ45 Connectors?

There is a industry standard. www.duxcw.com lists the standards. But as long as you where consistant with how you wired the connectors, then the standard would not matter.

Check your power supply. You did say that you heard something from your power supply. what did you hear? Try this board plugged into the other case's power supply. Will rule out one or the other.

Whats wrong with my floppy drives? UPDATE: solved!

Do you have a spare floppy drive to put in there to trouble shoot with. Try a new ribbon cable, or reseat the current ribbon cable. If those two options don't work, could be a heating problem on the motherboard with the floppy controller. Had one like that once with a new Motherboard. :confused:

What's the deal with NewEgg.com? How do they make money?

I will have to keep an eye on them for when I need to build a new system. I normally search www.pricewatch.com for prices before I buy. I also check out a couple of the auction sites for good deals(www.egghead.com, www.ubid.com). Had good luck with both of those two sites. :P

My comp Won't Boot properly. what can i do?

you can also set the cd-rom drive to be a bootable device. Put your WinME cd in and reboot the system. If the hard drive needs to be format, the windows install will see that and do it for you. Done it many times with win 98. When the system boots from the cd, it will ask you if you want to...

Two hard drives set as Master and now they are blank.. HELP PLZ!

fdisk /mbr will rewrite a corrupt mbr file. I am pretty sure that you will loose all data on the disk. I have not done it on a disk that had data. So, I may be wrong on that one?

where do YOU work?

US Navy. Production Control Supervisor for a medium sized aircraft repair facility. Someone else flies it(college degree), we fix it(high school degree). We fix all the parts from the F/A-18 Hornet and F/A-18 Super Hornet. :confused:

I would go with the Gigabite or wait for the Asus. I have an older Asus and love it. I dislike the Epox boards. Had nothing but trouble with the two that I had. :)

Is ICS the best solution?

I would go with the Linux solution for two reasons. 1. Linux is secure and stable. Win2K can be made secure, but stable is ???(Blue screen of Death). 2. Linux is easy to set up as long as all of your hardware is supported. Read the FAQ's before you do it. Try and get all the documentation...
