There's no error in the device manager - my two drives are listed as "unknown". My USB 1.1 devices continue to work with no problems. They can be attached to any port and work fine. Attaching the two 2.0 drives is recognized as an event by XP, but the last dialog box tells me the devices are...

Yes, it does say enhanced. I've done the safe mode/uninstall deal which sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. What I'm hoping for is something permanent, which is why I'm fishing for a way to ensure the correct MS USB driver is really 100% healthy.
