In the Fry's ad today (for those of you in California), the Western Digital 120gb is 124.99, which after price matching and rebates at Best Buy, would be something ridiculous like $5.00. Too bad there are no drives left on the shelf at any local BB store around me!

ZIF sockets for north/southbridge

With Via releasing all of these pin-compatible chipsets, would it be possible (hypothetically or otherwise) to create north and south bridge upgradable ZIF sockets? Dropping in a new north bridge for DDR would be too cool... possible? -asiantin

How Do I enable Auto-Play on my CD-ROM?

If you get TweakUI, in the Paranoia tab, there are two checkboxes for Play Data CD automatically and Play Audio CD automatically (that are seperate from Auto-insert notification)... you might want to try messing with that. -asiantin

normal to step up vcore?

the same thing happens to me at high overclocks... in order to o/c, i have to bump the vcore, but eventually i think you hit the limit of your processor... which from what i gather around the forum can be caused by heat, poor 5v rail voltage, and a host of other things. -asiantin

need help with HSF

With the great pricing @ SVC, I am thinking about the SVC Golden Gate 30 or the Alpha PAL6035 (stock fan) along with some ASII... I have a 1.4 Athlon, am thinking about O/Cing, but from what I've heard, I won't be able to stand the Delta's... which is better? The Alpha looks so...

Question: GF2MX vs. GF2GTS

mchammer, agree on gts/pro recommendation; but I've heard ATI cards have terrible Win2k support, and the Kyro is also suffering from driver issues, even if it is fast. IMO, Geforce MX is a great budget card for stability, even tho the overclockability of LE is very tempting... -asiantin

Quality Control

Infected-total bad luck. When I contacted AMD about the faulty T-Bird, they said I probably had defective cache. I can't run my Athlon 1000-B stable at 1Ghz/100 bus; Windows runs fine, but Prime95/3DMark/Counter-Strike fail. The best I can do is 933Mhz/133 bus. Has anyone else experienced...

Hi, I'm new here, but I've got a comment to make... is it just me or has quality control for recent computers gone down the drain? A couple of years ago, I bought a recommended Pentium II 400 with an Asus P2B mobo, and a Maxtor hard drive. The thing never crashed, the hard drive works...

New AMD machine what is the quitest heatsin/fan I can get that performs well
