good/best quality pc mic's or headsets?

I second the vote for a plantronics headset. The Labtec headsets that I've seen get good reviews only have one earpiece.

Can Mandrake 8.2 read NTFS volumes?

The bad thing is that Redhat 7.3 doesn't even have Fat support compiled in to the kernel right out of the box. I know that Suse 8.0 has NTFS and Fat support standard.

If it is an award bios then it is fairly easy to change. AMI bios are a little more tricky. Here is a link to an article on changing your logo with an award bios.

gentoo linux rocks (screenshots provided)

Gentoo doesn't really have anything to do with it. It is KDE3 that has anti-alias support. Gentoo is really cool though for other reasons.

1600*1200 Gaming. Would you run it at that res if you could?

It depends on the game. On some games the text stays the same, and on some it gets small. If you have a monitor that can do 1600x1200, then it should be large enough to see.

I run my games at the highest resolution that I can while still keeping all the details turned on high. There are very few games that I can't run at 1600x1200 maxed out. I personally don't like FSAA very much, but that's just me.

I've never done it, but it will probably ask you if you wish to upgrade. It should just copy over the files that you don't have. The Dell logo is in the bios, it doesn't have anything to do with your OS.

I vote for the last option also. I wouldn't buy one of the 100MHz FSB P4s anymore, even if I was overclocking. That would be one heck of a LAN box.

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. If you want a quote go to NewEgg and check the prices. I do have a suggestion. Why don't you hold off to get a Radeon 9700? If I was gonna spend that kind of money, then I'd wait.

On the third questions, if you're talking about protected folders, then their should be a file in their called folder.htt (it will be hidden), just rename it or delete it. You'll never have to click on "show files" again.

cpu not at the speed it should be...help

Use the failsafe settings, but go in and manually set the FSB to 133MHz. It may not be the CPU that's causing the PC to not run with the optimized settings. The RAM settings may be too aggresive with the optimzed settings, or something else.
