Compatability issues w/ AIW 9700 Pro + Epox 8KHA+?

Hey guys, Just wondering if any of you have issues concerning the pairing of an Epox 8KHA+ and an ATi All-in-Wonder 9700 Pro? I tried putting my card in other systems, and they worked fine.. popped into into mine.. couldn't even boot! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!

Main difference between 266 and 266a chipsets?

the Via KT266A chipset has a better memory controller than that found on the KT266... nuff said

9700 Pro...OEM or Retail?

I'd go for the retail over its oem counterpart for the no hassle warranty offered by ATI as well you should expect better quality from "Built by ATI" products anyway

Got deals on two video cards... which one do I keep?

the Ti4200 card beats the pants off the R9000 Pro 128 MB, so if I were you, I'd keep the Asylum card :)

OCing epox 8kha+

You might want to overclock just with one DIMM slot populated.. increase the voltage on both your DIMM slot and CPU voltage as well.. you might be able to overclock that way.. if that doesn't work.. I dunno dood..

why go for R9000 Pro's? the 8500 LE's yield better performance anyway.. you better pick them up before as they're scarce already

budget video cards

the 8500 LE (64/128 MB) will be demolished in Doom3... right now, the only video cards that are available that will be able to yield even reasonable frame rates in order to ensure maximum playability are those based on the ATI R300 line of VPU's (R9500 Pro and above I'm assuming)

budget video cards

if you're budget is between the 100 - 150 price range.. I'd recommend going with an ATI Radeon 8500 LE 128 mb version or a GF4 Ti4200 64mb.. You'd have to weigh the costs on whether you want more video RAM or less.. it's up to you..

the 955 DF (Samsung) would be a good choice as well, as it's extreme value if you want to go the more budget minded route

I'd definitely go for the Samsung 900NF as it offers unparalleled quality at a reasonable price! Don't be a Sony wh0re, as they charge a price premium for their name. I own a 900NF so I'm just a wee bit biased :)

New Duron CPU on KT7 motherboard

wait.. aren't Duron 1.3 GHz cpu's the "Morgan" based CPU's (derivative of the Palomino?) rather than the Spitfire (Thunderbird)? I don't think the original KT133 based mobo's support anything beyond Thunderbird/Spitfire AMD cpu's... You might have to buy a new mobo in order to upgrade to a new...

Tualatin + i810 chipset ???

The Tualatin based CPU's are NOT compatible with i810 chipsets. If you remember, the Tualatin is just a shrunken down Coppermine core (which used the i815e chipset) and manufactured through Intel's 0.13 micron process. The only chipset that I'm aware of that supports Tualatin based CPU's are...

Epox 8k7a or MSI kt3 ultra2

I'd take the MSI KT3 Ultra2 as it uses the KT333 (CE?) chipset whereas the Epox board uses the AMD 761 chipset.. KT333 should yield better performance as it has a memory controller I believe.

Oh yes! To add to my previous message, make sure you have good airflow through your case as you don't want the same "hot air" recycled in your case, whereby you just increase ambient temperature.. I leave the side panel of my Inwin S500 off, so that air is able to dissipate a little easier and...

Did you flash you mobo with the latest BIOS? Also, you should try to give your DIMM slots a little more juice in order to improve stability. Also, try adding more voltage to your CPU. Oh yes! Maybe you should try to do this with ONE stick of memory. I've populated one dimm slot with a Crucial...

Epox 8KHA+ & Win2kPro: extremely long shutdown time...

Very odd! I have similar specs as your rig ... 8KHA+, XP 1500+, 256 MB Crucial DDR (non-ECC, non-registered) and Win2K Pro.. I can't even think of why that would be happening...

What's the better memory type for the P4 in terms of o/c'ing??

My friend has a dilemma and he's wondering what would be the best route to go... RDRAM or DDR RAM in order to gain MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE coupled with a P4 1.6A... Furthermore.. my friend is wondering which mobo would be the best suited for either route... ABIT BD7 (Intel i845D chipset) for DDR...
