Which is better: Radeon 8500 or Radeon 9200?

The 9100, basicaly a 8500LE. You do get to use some of the extra "featuers" that you get in the 9xxx series.

Building a standalone DVD/DivX player, going to comp fair, what vid card to look out for?

A Sigma Designs Hollywood+ card (it's not a video card, but a Mpeg decoder card) has the best quality. They will also play DivX files though it really only works under Win98 and isn't HW accelerated.

The ultimate Home-made settop box!!?!!

The biggest issue with the Hollywood cards is that you wont have a menu to see what you are foing unless you have a monitor attached as well. If you have TV out on the video card as well you can get a video switching box (auto is best) to switch between the video card and the Hollywood.

I tend to use System DSN, it's global accoss all users (including LocalSystem/Services) so you dont need to stress about each user having it.

It would help to know what sort of problems you are having!!! A K6-2 500 is fairly close to the minimum spec for playing divXs. The video card should be fine. You really don't need 512MB of ram though.

If you are using odbc, you have setup ODBC on the XP box right?? You should also check to make sure that Fox Pro drivers are installed (part of MDAC which can be installed with Acces or seperatly).

How do you find info on someone using their IP#?

You will never be able to get anough info to be able to send an email to them. I would sugest some form of access restrction, something like basic Authentication or a CGI program to restrict acess to registered users.
