[Microcenter in store only] AMD FX 8320 Black Edition 3.5GHz AM3+ $99

I have an ASUS M5A99FX R2.0 motherboard with a 1090T. I use it for an ESXi host. Is the FX 8320 worth spending $99 to upgrade? I don't overclock. When I search for "1090T vs. FX 8320" the consensus is it's not worth upgrading, but the discussions are about gaming as well as from some time...

    The Catholic Religion (rant)

My wife is Roman Catholic and we were married outside the church. I am now going through the RCIA process to convert (and I'm converting because I want to convert, not because of my wife; we've been married more than seven years). Part of the process involvs attending a day-long class on living...

    SPRINT PCS service == DIRT

I just switched from AT&T Wireless to Sprint PCS for a few reasons: 1) I had a lot of drop-outs with AT&T driving around DFW. 2) I couldn't get a connection at my desk at work. 3) I couldn't get a connection in one of the computer rooms at work. 4) AT&T charges $0.15 (or $0.05...

    $199 Laptop Egghead

eGadget, the lot number is different, and the price is $1255 instead of $1449. The sale also closed at 4:03PM PST. The one Spawndude posted still shows up at $199 and doesn't close until March 13. I took a look at the clearance laptop section and the laptop does list at $1449. It's only when...

    $199 Laptop Egghead

My guess is the person ordered 30 when it first went up, then someone caught the error at Egghead. Someone also ordered 10. If you take a look, the person that ordered 30 and the person that ordered 10 are both in the Pasedena area, so maybe one of them let the other know about it before the...

    $199 Laptop Egghead

Well, someone bought 30 of them, but when I tried to order one I got the error that my price of $199 was below the minimum bid price of $1449. Wow, I guess we all tried at once. :)

    John Edward a fake?

I think he's a fake. I'd like to see him try to get past James Randi. What I want to know is why is this non-SF show on SciFi? Shouldn't it be on Lifetime or E! or some other channel? There's been some other non-SF shows on SciFi as well. I think they need to get a new programming director...

Photosmart for 1100xi for $200 off amazon price

GhostSoldier, I'm not the only person. I've seen reports from two other people with Dell Inspiron 8000s running W2K that had the same problem. There's some odd conflict with the I8000 with W2K (WinMe didn't have this problem). It isn't even a problem with some of Dell's software since I had...

    Post your UPTIME!

At work I had a system that was up for over 3.5 years, but I had to shut it down because they were replacing the UPS and power feeds there was no power to keep going. The operating system was VMS. The longest uptime I've heard of is a VAX running VMS for the Irish rail system. It was up over...

    Warm: Optra E312

The cartridge is a 1.5K starter, so you'd spend about the same as the E312, but if you need one, you'll find the E312L easier than the E312 in the chains. For laser printers I prefer to buy local rather than getting one shipped to me. I also needed one quickly, which does rule out mail order.

    Warm: Optra E312

You can tell the type of the display model by quickly pushing the button (don't hold it in; that resets the printer). This will print out the setup sheet. On mine the header says "Lexmark Optra E312" and not "Lexmark Optra E312L", and the "Printer Information&quot...

    Warm: Optra E312

I needed to buy a new laser printer to replace my old laser printer. I need a printer that speaks PostScript (for my VMS systems), so I was considering the Optra E312. Following a hint on the LinuxPrinting.org Support Database I checked out the Optra E312L. It seems that quite a few of these...

New Star Trek Series Set For Fall

Is Pink Floyd still the Shiznit?

Yes, gunf1ghter, I understand the evolution of language, but that still doesn't mean I like hearing slang. Plus, "shiznit" is gangster/rap slang, so hopefully that will not survive. I believe that if there's a word that already exists, use the word instead of creating a new one.

Is Pink Floyd still the Shiznit?

No, gunf1ghter, you don't have to say groovy or whatever, just say they are good if you like their music. "Shiznit" is not a word and sounds stupid, along with most other slang, such as "my bad", used by someone in this thread; "my bad" is a sentence fragment and...

Is Pink Floyd still the Shiznit?

Yes, Pink Floyd is still great, but they aren't "the shiznit", since that phrase would be used to refer to some current flash-in-the-pan singer or group that some people might like. Using "the shiznit" in the same sentence as Pink Floyd is an insult to Pink Floyd.

Linksys 4 port router for $75 after Staples PM, $30 coupon

Hahaha :) Take a look at this deal :)

This is funny. The car has an expired registration and the last time the registration was updated the odometer reading was recorded as "Exempt", which I think means the car was totalled-out (I could be wrong on that). Be careful bidding on this one, people! :)

Linksys wireless PC Card $69.97 + tax (802.11b compatible) 11MB

I've picked up two of these from CompUSA with a pricematch. I had to go to two different CompUSA stores as each one only had one card. The first one spent some time trying to figure out how to get out of the pricematch, but I used the receipt from the first one to easily pricematch at the second.

Linksys wireless PC Card $69.97 + tax (802.11b compatible) 11MB

My experience with the 802.11b cards was that using an access point gave me higher speeds and better connectivity, even with the access point in the same location as the system with the card in a PCMCIA adapter. The access point should have a better antenna. I would also not be surprised that...
