Thank for the replies. The voltages are from values in the BIOS monitor. Both the CPU and motherboard are new (bought them on Tuesday) and the 24pin/8 pin/4 pin molex are all connected to the motherbard.

I've done everything that I could think off... I reset the CMOS and took the battery off, I messed with the CPU BIOS settings, I downgraded to P30 BIOS, messed with the BIOS settings, re-upgraded do P30, messed with BIOS settings. I rechecked the CPU physical location, reseated the...

Yes, did the latest BIOS update, and had to reinstall both the SOs (XP and Vista) due to the driver conflicts. I just did not reset the CMOS and removed the battery after the processor update. Have to try that when I get home.

Doom III = Teh Suck!

Doom3 Audio Issue

For the guys that are having problems in D3 with sound stoping in the middle of the game try this: Add the following line to your doomconfig.cfg: bind "x" "s_restart" Everytime audio drops out, just press the "x" key.

Answers: 1. Probably not. The only heatsinks that I know that benefit from that are the Alphas and they were designed like that. 2. Yes!!

Do not do this!! The best way to do it is to put it on the side of the core with beingon top of the CPU. If youy put it between the CPU and the heatsink you won't get any contact and your processor will fry in a matter of seconds.

Yes, a 30C temp drop is unlikely but a 15-20 is probable. And AMD chips do have the internal diode but many boards don't read it. Most of them read from the diode beneath the CPU (in the center of the socket).

Find a boot CD with a anti-virus installed and run it from the CD. This way you won't have any problems removing the files infected in your operating system drive.

How many of you got dead pixels in your spanking new LCD?

My HP 2025 has two dead pixels. the funy thing is tha on the normal windows desktop I can creally see one with a green'ish color and the other with a grey'ish, but playing a movie or a game I don't see them there. Don't ask me why, but I can't really see them.

Different memory timmings using dual-channel.

I have two 512mb stick from OCZ but with different timings. One is PC3200 and the other is PC3500. When using dual-channel mode is it better to put the PC3500 in dimm-slot 1 and the PC3200 in dimm-slot 2 or is it the other way around? Does it make a difference? Thanks for the replies in advance.

Prime95 failure due to processor, RAM, or both?

Try and test one thing at a time. FIrst Try and up the fsb without raising the core clock (by multiplier adjustment) then do the inverse process , raise the core clock without raising the fsb. Then you will see if it's the memory or the CPU that is failing.

2-2-2-11 is faster

I got better score in synthetic benches and real world apps (games in this case...) Prime got an improvement of around 5%.

I remember those Chrysalids... I wouldn't really call it scary, but the feeling of panic and horror went through the mind of, at least, the members of the team in play. X-COM (the first) was a great game.

Relax the tRAS timings for better performance

I can also confirm this. I get better performance not only in benchmarks but also in games using a timming of 2-2-2-11. I have and Epox 8RDA (non-plus).

Comparing dB - 80mm vs 92mm

Imagine the current situation: Comparing two fans (a 80 mm and a 92mm) that have the same dB ratio, for example 50dB but the 80mm is rated for 5000RPM's and the 92m rated for 4000mm both at 12v. My question is, is it normal to think that if those two fans were downed to 7v the 92mm would be...
